Already an early MVP candidate, New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul is off to a phenomenal year racking up stats in bunches. Paul has been gracious on the court and so has Jordan Brand by creating different player exclusive models for Paul to wear, mainly the Air Jordan XX3 (23). CP3’s away XX3 has appeared on both the Hornets star’s feet and online. The away model features black with teal, conforming to the colors of the road jersey. With the second installment of his signature ride, the CP3 2.0, waiting in the wings, New Orleans Hornets point God Chris Paul has been sporting exclusive variations of the luxurious Air Jordan XX3 (23). In short, Paul couldn’t be in a more enviable position. And to coincide with the NBA’s asinine, “51% of the sneaker must match the player’s jersey,” rule, the talented crew over at Jordan Brand manufactured this delicious black/teal version of MJ’s 23rd signature. (Cats in the sneaker industry don’t view the “51%” rule as a law; rather, it’s a challenge to combine the sickest flavors into a playable package!) CP’s “Away” pair features a teal ankle collar, TPU support wrap, and stitch pattern. His creative logo is colored up in white, and sits across the middle of the aforemenetioned collar. As Chris Paul emerges as one of the top point guards in the world, Jordan Brand will help build on his success by releasing the Air Jordan CP3 II in 2009. This sneaker seems to be inspired by the Air Jordan 23 (XXIII); most noticeably, the CP3 II borrows a stitching pattern on the side that is reminiscent of the Air Jordan 23. Built for one of the flashiest point guards in the NBA, this pair provides padded ankle support while keeping the cut low enough to allow for fluid motion on the basketball court. Paying tribute to Chris Paul’s New Orleans Hornets, the sneakers shown above also flaunts a New Orleans inspired graphic starting from right above the heel leading to the top the ankle support. The energy stitching and gold accents throughout this pair also correlate with the Hornets team colors. The CP3 II will be available for all of Chris Paul’s loyal fans on March 3, 2009 for $122. This CP3 Air Jordan 2.5 is designed similar to other Chris Paul designed sneakers. On December 10, 2008, the New Orleans Hornets faced off against the Charlotte Bobcats at the New Orleans Arena. The regular season matchup celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the New Orleans franchise. To commemorate the occasion, the team suited up in New Orleans Buccaneers uniforms, the city’s original team. Jordan Brand created a player exclusive colorway of the Air Jordan 23 (XX3) for devilishly quick point guard Chris Paul to sport for the occasion. This player exclusive colorway features a red upper with a white midsole, white shoe lace region, and the typical Air Jordan XX3 side pattern in white. In just a few seasons, Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets has gone from a lightning fast rookie to a NBA superstar. During his short career, Paul has experienced more than some players do in an entire career including having to leave New Orleans because of Hurricane Katrina. Subsequently, the New Orleans Hornets moved to Oklahoma City and Paul began a new chapter to his career. Upon returning to New Orleans, the Hornets have experienced great success. On November 21, 2008, Chris Paul led his Hornets back into Oklahoma City to face the Thunder. In that game, Paul wore this pair of Air Jordan XX3 (23) PEs that is now being auctioned off on ebay by the CP3 Foundation. This player exclusive features a black upper with light blue accents, topped off with a CP3 logo on the ankle support. This pair is not only game worn, but also autographed by Chris Paul himself. Chris Paul is not only one of the elite point guards in the NBA, he is also one of the few players that keeps a fresh sneaker game on and off the courts. A couple days ago, the New Orleans Hornets faced off against the Sacramento Kings at the New Orleans Arena. After warm-ups were completed and the players had taken the court, many at home stared at their TV screens in awe at what Chris Paul was wearing. Though seeing Chris Paul in a pair of Jordan Player exclusives is not something new, we have yet to see anybody in the NBA wear a colorway of the Jordan XX3 that can be compared to these. Featuring a white upper with carolina blue accents, this colorway is on point when it comes to matching them with the New Orleans Hornets’ jerseys. This pair was created solely for Chris Paul and will not be releasing to the public.
