The Air Jordan 17 launched on February 16, 2002, with Tinker Hatfield returning as designer after missing the previous two models. Inspired by jazz music and luxury sports cars, the shoe retailed for $200 and came in a metal briefcase. The original “Copper” colorway was released first, followed by “White/Varsity Red” in March 2002, “College Blue” in April 2002, and a “Lightning” colorway during the original run. The $200 price tag and Michael Jordan’s retirement from the Wizards contributed to the shoe’s limited sales, but the silhouette is considered a classic. We would also see the Air Jordan 17 Low release in the same year. Jordan Brand brought back the Air Jordan 17 “Copper” and “Bulls” colorways in 2016, followed by a “Black Metallic” release in 2018. Here, we will update all upcoming Air Jordan 17 releases with current dates.
