Air Jordan 1 High OG Banned Bred 2016 Review

The Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ will in-fact be the Black and Red Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG to debut in 2016. First reported by many as the ‘Bred’ model, we were the first to leak that the shoes would actually be the ‘Banned’ edition months back.

One of the most iconic non-traditional releases, the Banned Jordan 1 first launched in 2011, well sort of. Originally Jordan Brand had a wide release scheduled for the shoes, but decided not to go through with it. Instead, Nike Outlets received pairs which released at the end of May through early July, depending on location. This was also the first time that 100s of people lined up at a Nike Outlet.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Banned 2016 Details

Using the classic color scheme of Black, Varsity Red and White, the Banned Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG for 2016 once again plays off the idea when David Stern and the NBA banned his shoes. Each game that Michael Jordan wore them in, he was finned $5,000 which played a great marketing role for Nike. Other highlights of the shoes is a quote on the insole from the original commercial, the date when the NBA attempted to Ban the shoes, Red X throughout and ‘Imagine If…?’ located on the inside of the tongue and box.

The 2016 release will be much calmed down compared to the outlet launch. While still retaining the Black, Varsity Red and White color theme, the liner will have the respective size printed on as well as 10.18.85, the date the Air Jordan 1 was banned from the NBA.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Banned 2016 Release Date

The Banned Air Jordan 1 will release at Jordan Brand retailers on September 3rd, 2016 and will retail for $160. More than likely this will be an anticipated release, so even if they wind up being a general release, obtaining a pair could be on the difficult side. Once more images become available, we will share with you but for now you can get a closer look below.

Update: This could be our very first look at the 2016 Air Jordan 1 Retro High ‘Bred’. As you can see, $5000 along with X and Banned are lasered on the heel, all the while being dressed in a Black, Red and White color theme. This pair is said to be a sample and is not confirmed if they will be the retail version. But if they are, what do you think so far?

Air Jordan 1 Banned 2016

We have received some information from an insider that the Air Jordan 1 ‘Bred’ that is scheduled to return in 2016 will actually be the ‘Banned’ model. The two have the same color scheme, but the brand will incorporate the theme of the shoes being banned by the NBA back in 1985 (note it was actually the Air Ship). We don’t have images, but it would seem that Jordan will be using a similar theme as the Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ that was scrapped but hit outlets back in 2011, but it’s possible to see some changes.
