Summer’s finally here, and to celebrate everyone’s favorite season K-Swiss is announcing a surprise drop from its Vintage CA collection. Available now, the shoes pay homage to the brand’s most iconic silhouette – The Classic (CA) II + Limited – while incorporating accents inspired by the carefree culture of K-Swiss‘ home in Southern California. Stylized details and a timeless design guarantee that any of the Vintage CA shoes are sure to become a closet staple.

On March 20th the Honda LA Marathon will take place.

In honor of the marathon, K-Swiss has created a special signature runner specifically for the festivity. The limited edition K-Swiss K-Ona S LA is a great choice for those participating or even if you are in attendance strictly for support. Coming in at a mere 9oz makes it one of the lightest weight runners thus far. Breathability has been enhanced with the addition of a seamless upper & ‘Flow Cool System’ placed in the front and rear of the sneaker. Superfoam tech, Si-18 crash pad insole and k-EVA midsole provide the wearer with lightweight superior cushion as well as a TPU midfoot shank for increased stabillity.

In March we saw K-Swiss host a Charity Ping Pong tournament for the winner to take home $500 towards the charity of his/her choice. Now, the brand has enlisted the services of Danny McBride, who plays Kenny Powers on the HBO show Eastbound & Down for the latest ad campaign featuring the TUBES running shoe from K-Swiss. K-Swiss has been stepping out of the sneaker realm quite a bit as of late with their poster campaign and film shorts, but this one might just take the cake. K-Swiss recently hosted a ping pong tournament at the SPIN and MySpace Music Loft at SXSW, an exclusive lounge in downtown Austin, Texas. The tournament participants included musicians the xx, Suckers, Steel Train, Fitz and the Tantrums, singers VV Brown and Sydney Wayser, and comedians Margaret Cho and Kevin Avery, all of whom were competing for $500 for the charity of their choice. At the end of the day, the xx’s tour manager, Ethan Silverman, was crowned the victor, and he donated the $500 to Amnesty International. K-Swiss also awarded a $250 prize to Fitz and the Tantrums, who won the random ‘Wildcard’ drawing. They decided to donate their prize money to W.O.R.K.S. (Women Organizing Resources, Knowledge, and Services).

Last week, we showcased the first of twelve film shorts K-Swiss will be launching to pay homage to their classic line of sneakers, and we now have our first view of the second video, which mainly concentrates on the upcoming LA Marathon. Running outdoors is one of the best activities one can perform to stay healthy and to relieve some stress, but with all of today’s technological advancements and fitness centers, the thought of running outdoors usually takes a back seat to running on a treadmill with a TV and fan just a few feet away. In this film short, K-Swiss invites the viewer to participate in the LA Marathon, which takes place this Sunday, March 21, 2010, and to not only run, but to actually take part in what running outdoors is all about: “[taking] in the sights, sounds and people as runners traverse the wide expanse between hillsides and shoreline.” If you’re interested in participating in the marathon, you can visit LA Marathon’s official website. Just a few days ago, we showcased the K-Swiss Classic Film Shorts, and we now have K-Swiss’ latest form of media to share—their poster campaign. This campaign consists of eight different posters, each of which is accompanied by a few words from a Wallpaper writer about the history of the K-Swiss Classic. The eight posters meant to advertise the sneaker consist of the following titles: “You gotta know your classics,” “L.A. 1996,” “K,” “We killed canvas. K-Swiss has become a household name in regards to sneakers mainly due to its highly popular all-leather tennis shoe, the Classic. Before perfecting the Classic silhouette, K-Swiss created many prototypes with various canvas and textile materials. One of the prototypes was the K-Swiss Vintage California, which will be available in both a mid and low cut silhouette in 2010. Releasing for the first time in the past 20 years, the Vintage California will be available in a total of ten styles. The low-top and high-top styles will feature the same colorways, which range from a simple white and blue version to one with a more vivid green base with black and white accents.
