Tyrese Maxey has quickly become one of New Balance Basketball’s most important athletes. After joining the brand in 2023, Maxey eventually received his own signature shoe. He officially debuted the Maxey V1 during the NBA Play-In Tournament in April 2026 while playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. The timing gave fans their first detailed look at the shoe before its retail launch.
The design takes inspiration from several New Balance models. Maxey specifically pointed to the 9060 as an influence, bringing some of its flowing lines and sculpted appearance to the basketball court. The lacing system also pulls from the New Balance 2002. This gives the Maxey V1 a familiar New Balance identity without relying heavily on the traditional “N” logo.
New Balance Maxey V1 Technology
The upper features a wavy construction with several layers and rounded shapes across the toe and midfoot. Suede, synthetic leather, and TPU are used throughout the build. The side panels include teardrop-shaped sections around the forefoot, while the large New Balance “N” sits in the middle. Maxey’s branding appears on the tongue with “Maxey” above a small “v1” tag.
For cushioning, the Maxey V1 uses New Balance FuelCell technology. The brand describes FuelCell as a high-rebound foam designed to provide a propulsive sensation during movement. New Balance has used the technology throughout its basketball range, and the Maxey V1 brings it into Maxey’s first signature model.
