In celebrating 40 years of Nike Basketball, Nike will soon unveil a new “Inside Access” series exploring the history of the brand’s designs.
It all started 40 years ago with the introduction of two basketball shoes – the Nike Bruin and the Nike Blazer. Nike designers continued to modify both styles, with the release of suede versions and then the Blazer Low in leather the following year. Then came the Nike Air Force 1, a shoe that revolutionized the game with Nike Air technology.
As the sport evolves Internationally, Nike Basketball will continue transforming footwear and apparel with unimaginable performance technology. One day at a time, with no end in sight.
“’Designed to the exact specifications of championship athletes’ is a philosophy that extends well beyond badges, labeling and marketing material,” said Tracy Teague, Nike Basketball Design Director. “Our goal is to push performance innovation in footwear and apparel to new levels by giving athletes product they never imagined.”

The features will be unveiled on NikeInc.com on a biweekly basis through the season – the first and third Tuesdays of each month. We’ll reveal content aimed at exploring design innovation through shoes, apparel, athletes, moments and more.
