Jordan Brand continues to expand its Air Jordan 9 lineup, balancing original colorways with modern favorites that have earned their own following. After its October 2019 launch, the “Gym Red” quickly became one of the more distinctive Air Jordan 9 releases thanks to its bold use of patent leather and clean two-tone color blocking. Nearly eight years later, the pair is set to return for Summer 2027, allowing both longtime collectors and newer fans another chance to add it to their rotation.

What you can expect from the Air Jordan 9 “Gym Red” is the same White leather upper paired with glossy Gym Red patent leather wrapping the mudguard and midsole. Matching Gym Red appears on the heel, collar, tongue branding, and portions of the outsole, while Black accents land on the inner lining, Jumpman branding, and pull tab. 

The familiar Air Jordan 9 outsole, featuring multilingual details, returns beneath, along with encapsulated Air cushioning that stays true to the original performance design. What will be different with the 2027 release is that the mold will be updated to reflect the original shape.
