Jordan Brand has been giving us the low-top version of the Air Jordan 17. However, in 2027, we will finally see the mid-top pair return to retailers. For fans of original colorways, the โCollege Blueโ Air Jordan 17 will return for the first time. The pair was released on February 9, 2002, and was among the pairs worn by Michael Jordanโs return to the NBA with the Washington Wizards.
Designed by Wilson Smith III, the Air Jordan 17 drew inspiration from jazz music, which influenced both the design language and marketing of the shoe. The model also introduced luxury elements rarely seen in basketball sneakers at the time, including a metal briefcase for packaging and a CD-ROM included with purchase.
Built with White leather on the upper, it features the signature removable shroud, covered in Black with music notes on the sides. College Blue appears on part of the midsole with a Jumpan, while the lace lock receives the same treatment. Furthermore, it features the usual Chrome detailing on the heel, and it also has full-length Air and Zoom Air cushioning.
At the time of writing, itโs not known whether the shoes will come with the original briefcase.

Bottom Line
Itโs about time Jordan Brand started showing love to the original Air Jordan 17 mid-top releases. The first pair to return is the โCollege Blue,โ which is a fan favorite and probably the best colorway to bring back. It only took them 25 years. However, it is nice that the Brand will celebrate the Anniversary.
