Jordan Brandโ€™s impressive Holiday 2026 collection continues to get better, and we have another classic dropping. You can now add the โ€œRoyalโ€ Air Jordan 1 High OG to the lineup. An original colorway, the High OG debuted this color option last time in 2017. Although hype for the Air Jordan 1 has slowed, which is a good thing for true fans of the model, the return of the โ€œRoyalโ€ might spark some interest.

Air Jordan 1 Royal History

The โ€œRoyalโ€ colorway was released in 1985 as part of the original Air Jordan 1 releases, making it a classic. Typically, when you think of Air Jordans, Black, Red, and White come to mind. However, the Royal pair mixed things up and was a good alternative pickup for those who wanted something new, instead of the โ€œChicagoโ€ or โ€œBredโ€ iterations.

We would see the first retro of the pair in 2001. However, it was a mid-top. Most didnโ€™t mind at the time, and the complaints we see today were non-existent. Most of us, including me, were just happy that the shoes were released. Fast forward to 2013, we saw another drop, this time a High OG, and another release occurred in 2017. Jordan Brand would also drop the โ€œRoyal Reimaginedโ€ in 2023, featuring suede instead of leather. For the most part, the public wasnโ€™t happy with the shoes.

The iconic colorway was also applied to the low-top silhouette. We would first see the โ€œRoyalโ€ Jordan 1 Low debut in the OG mold in 2015. In 2025, the brand would release a limited run of the โ€œRoyalโ€ Air Jordan 1 Low 85.

2026 Details

Once again, we will receive the Air Jordan 1 High OG, instead of the 85 High. Currently, the 85 line is on hold. What you can expect with this Air Jordan 1 is the traditional Royal Blue, Black, and White color combination. Unlike the 2017 pair, the 2026 pair will feature smooth leather and not tumbled. This will ensure the pair is closer to the original. The signature Wings logo will appear on the ankle with Nike Air on the tongue label, insoles, and the outsole.

As for the blocking, expect the signature Royal hue to cover the perforated toe box, the ankle, around the heel, the Swoosh, the Nike Air on the tongue, and the rubber outsole. Black smooth leather appears on the base, with White on the midsole.

Air Jordan 1 Royal 2026 Release Date

The Air Jordan 1 High OG โ€œRoyalโ€ will be released during the Holiday 2026 season at Jordan Brand retailers, including Nike.com, Foot Locker, Finish Line, Shiekh, Hibbett, and DSG. This means a release will occur between October and December 2026. The retail price is $180. Once we have more details, we will update you.

Bottom Line

I am glad that the โ€œRoyalโ€ Air Jordan 1 is returning. However, I would have preferred it to be the 85 High. Most of us expected that any original colorway that returns would be on the 85 silhouette. Overall, the colorway is classic, and itโ€™s been 9 years since the last High OG drop, excluding the Reimagined version.
