Nike Suspends the Michael Vick V Sneaker

You probably heard that Michael Vick was indicted on animal cruelty charges this week. Set to release August 23rd Nike Vick V, but now Nike has suspended the release. Quoted from Nike:
“Nike is concerned by the serious and highly disturbing allegations made against Michael Vick and we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent. We do believe that Michael Vick should be afforded the same due process as any citizen; therefore, we have not terminated our relationship. We have however made the decision to suspend the release of the Zoom Vick V and related marketing communications. Nike will continue to monitor the situation closely and have no further comment at this time.”

We will see if Nike actually ends the contract. Via CNBC.

  4. I don no about u guys but I believe nikes statement is quite funny they said "….we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent", because they encourage child labour and they also pay their workers less than minimum wage. I guess that's just how funny life is.

  14. just another thug that can run fast, no sense or real understanding of life and what do we do? throw money at him, for being fast, not good, just fast. ATL needs to drop him like a bad habit, he'll never lead them to a championship, he's a thug not a star. Put him in the ring with a few of those dogs and see who's fast. I feel the pain for those animals as a rescuer myself. I just lost my abused Pit of 12 years and miss her dearly. I truely hope that if allowed to play some dog loving LB or DB gets to his spine so he feels the pain and crawls the rest of his life like the dogs did. I'm glad Nike is taking a stance but I would have just dropped him like a bad habit. And to you turds that keep saying "stop snithin'," get an effin' life! That is so lame! Please call Roger Goodell at 1-212-450-2000 and ask or tell him to terminate vick's contract. vick will never play again no matter what the outcome of the trial. vick will not get any more money for his lawyers.     I'd say the justice system sucks and let a GUILTY man off because he has money. I hope all the Vick fans have learned something from all this…that their idolizing of such a jerk and financially supporting him though buying products with his name on it has helped to fund his sicko murdering and torturing of dogs.

Nike's statement is a blueprint for where y'all should be at, troubled by the serious allegations while waiting for due process. instead, y'all rally around the guy like he's some saint, being unfailry picked on. just like OJ, it's this response, privately and publicly, it tarnishes your image as a people capable of rationale view and discourse. has nothing to do with race, other than the fact that race is the sole basis for your support. really makes me sad…..

  24. what makes me sad is that vick will take this to a jury and normal people with compassion will be scarred for the rest of their lives because of the evil they will see in pictures of vick's torture home, the blood on the walls, the broken and beaten bodies of dead dogs, scarred, starved, sick and pus-infected animals. Only evil would delight in the vileness that happened and was happening in his home. vick should die a thousand painful deaths in every way over and over again in eternity. what a vile, disgusting, evil POS.

    He should be happy he's caused so much pain in the world since causing pain gives him pleasure. Everyone who has a heart that has had the misfortune of knowing of his evil deeds will ache for those poor, innocent, and unwilling victims. We're all victims of his deliberate cruelty.
