The Nike LeBron 13 ‘Doernbecher’ is scheduled to release on November 21st, 2015. This marks the first time a LeBron signature model is apart of the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection and was designed by Kian Safholm.
Doernbecher Nike LeBron 13 Designer, Inspiration
Kian Safholm sat down with Nike to design the LeBron 13. Two years prior Kian had a staph infection which spread throughout his body and made it’s way into his heart. After three surgeries, months of rest and good people by his side, he is now back to doing what he loves, playing basketball and watching the Cleveland Cavaliers. The LBJ13 is a tribute to King James as he gave him courage and inspiration to keep on fighting.
The orange, red, pink to purple almost gradient is inspired by the sunrise on the savanna, where Lions roam since LeBron James is said to have a ‘heart of a lion’. Kian then took more of a personal approach by creating his own family crest which can be seen on the liner which celebrates the things closest to him; faith, family, perseverance and basketball. Forever Grateful can also be seen, a family motto. “Whenever we talk about my experience, my dad says he’ll be forever grateful to the Doernbecher team for saving my life,” said Kian.

The ‘Dorenbecher’ Nike LeBron 13 will be more available than other Nike DB models throughout the years. First you will be able to purchase them at NikeStore.com and the various Nike Towns located across the United States. Outside of that, select Shoe Palace and Villa locations will have limited sizing available.
