Nike Basketball and Vanessa Bryant will release the Nike Kobe 9 Protro Elite “Halo”, which extends on the Halo Collection and will be the first time the model will retro.
Vanessa Bryant, the head of the Kobe Bryant estate, has stated that there will be more Kobe’s releasing. So far, 2024 features a solid lineup of drops. Some are new colorways, while others were part of the initial launch. Furthermore, she helped Nike introduce the “Halo” series, a way for her and Nike Basketball to honor Kobe Bryant’s birthday each year. Nike and Vanessa stated that this will be an annual release to celebrate the special day. For 2024, we will have two pairs released, one being the “Halo” Nike Kobe 9 Protro Elite.
Not only will the Kobe 9 Elite return, but the “Halo” Nike Kobe 9 Protro EM will also debut in Fall 2024.
The Nike Kobe 9 will return in Protro form for the first time. The model was originally released in February 2014, making 2024 the 10th Anniversary of the release. Typically, Nike Basketball would release the “Elite” version of the model in the postseason. However, the Kobe 9 Elite was the rollout model.
Like the previous release, this Nike Kobe 9 will come dressed in mostly White. At the time of writing, the image used is only a mock-up, and we couldn’t confirm the color blocking. However, the shoes will be covered in mostly White while constructed with Flyknit material. We have Nike Lunarlon for cushioning, and Nike has added Flywire for lockdown. Like the Kobe 8, the 9 Elite may use Black on the carbon fiber areas on the midsole.
