The Nike KD 4 “Aunt Pearl” is the first pair to launch in the “Aunt Pearl” series and will return in 2024. Hornoring Kevin Durant’s late Aunt, the sneakers will return during the Holiday 2024 season. With a retail price of $130, it comes highlighted in shades of Pink.
Kevin Durant’s “Aunt Pearl” series officially started with the KD 4 in 2012. However, in late 2023, Nike Basketball released the “Aunt Pearl” KD 3, a first for the silhouette. Even his latest signature shoe, the KD 16, was released in the “Aunt Pearl” theme.
Aunt Pearl played a significant role in Kevin Durant’s life. At the young age of 11, KD lost his Aunt Pearl in 2000, who battled hard against Lung Cancer.
This Nike KD 4 comes dressed in a Pinkfire II, Black, and Metallic Silver color combination. It is constructed with Hyperfuse and mesh throughout while dipped in Pink. The mid-foot strap, a favorite amongst fans of the model, also has Pink with a large Black Swoosh. The Think Pink logo lands on the tongue, a tribute to the Kaw Yow Foundation. One of the best elements of the shoes is the scattered pearls on the ankle, tongue, heel, and medial side. Lastly, we have a translucent Pink rubber outsole to finish the design.
A hidden tribute appears on the inside of the mid-foot strap. It reads: “In Memory of Aunt Pearl, who inspired us all to continue the fight for a cure.”
