Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 Hot Lava Retro 2024

Easily the best silhouette from Andre Agassi’s signature line with Nike is the Air Tech Challenge 2. One of the original colorways is known as “Hot Lava” and was first launched in 1990. Over the years, we have seen a handful of retro releases hit retailers, and in 2024, 24 years after its initial launch, the “Hot Lava” Nike Air Tech Challenge II will be re-released.

As mentioned, the first time this colorway was released was in 1990. We saw a second launch of the “Hot Lava” Air Tech Challenge 2 in 2008. The pair arrived at stores again in 2014, six years after its first retro. Two years later, in 2016, the shoes were released again, and the last time we saw the pair become available was in 2019.

The “Hot Lava” theme is so popular that Nike has used it on other models. In 2019, the LeBron 16 was released, inspired by Agassi’s shoe, and Jordan Brand dropped the Legacy 312 using the theme in 2018.

The 2024 Nike Air Tech Challenge II comes dressed in a Phantom, Hot Lava, Black, Silver, and Pale Ivory color combination. Due to the color description, Nike Sportswear will take a vintage approach, featuring aged detailing, similar to what they did in 2016. Highlighted with White leather on the base and perforations on the panels. Hot Lava is splashed on the sides with speckled detailing, fills in the Swoosh logos, adorns the tongue branding, and covers the inside of the tongues. Black and Grey appear throughout, and White hits the Nike branding on the heels. Lastly, a mixture of the aforementioned shades lands on the rubber outsole.
