Nike Sportswear will celebrate the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, by releasing multiple models in the patriotic theme. The games will be held between July 26 to August 11, 2024. One of the pairs that will make a return is the “Olympic” Air More Uptempo, which Scottie Pippen originally wore during the games in Atlanta, Georgia.
This isn’t the first time, nor the second or third, that the “Olympic” Air More Uptempo has released. The first time was in 1996 and was a special release. The second retro was limited and only released at HOH (House of Hoops) shops in 2010. Two years later, Nike Sportswear brought the shoes back in 2012, and they didn’t sit long this time, as many fans couldn’t wait to lace them up. Four years later, in 2016, we saw the fourth release take place, and Nike seeded pairs to friends and family with special packaging. The final time the shoes were brought out was in 2020.
This Nike Air More Uptempo comes dressed in a White, Midnight Navy, Metallic Gold, and University Red color combination. Dressed like the previous drops, the shoes feature Navy nubuck on the base with perforations. White fills in the iconic “AIR” branding across the panels and tongue label. The midsole mixes Navy and White, with Blue filling the Swoosh on the toe box and heels. Red fills in the Swoosh logos on the tongue and outsole, connecting for a patriotic theme. Highlighting the “Olympic” Air More Uptempo is Scottie Pippen’s Olympic number “8” on the heels outlined in Gold. Finishing the look is a clear full-length Air unit.
