Coming off its 30th Anniversary celebration in 2024, we look ahead at what’s coming. For 2025, the “Cool Grey” Air Jordan 9 will return to retailers in Spring. Although not an original colorway, the shoes were first launched in 2002, making them a classic. The return of the “Cool Grey” follows the re-release of the “Powder Blue” Air Jordan 9 and the “Olive” Air Jordan 9.

The “Cool Grey” Air Jordan 9 has been released two times, with the third release arriving in 2025. The shoes were first launched in 2002 and didn’t do well, resulting in pairs sitting and eventually going on sale. We last saw the pair launch in 2012, ten years after its debut. This time around, the pair did much better. It was around the time that Jordan Brand dropped multiple Air Jordan 9 colorways, and fans loved it when the brand brought out a “Cool Grey” Air Jordan.
Although Michael Jordan never wore the original Air Jordan 9 on the court, he did wear a cleated version when he played for the Birmingham Barons. In 2002, Jordan was playing for the Washington Wizards and, for the first time, would lace up the model. The colorway he chose was the “Cool Grey” 9.
With the 2025 pair, you can expect the overall shape to be updated with the overall build resembling the original mold, which should look better than the 2012 and 2002 renditions. This Air Jordan 9 will come dressed in a Medium Grey, Cool Grey, and White color scheme. Utilizing Medium Grey nubuck across the upper and perforated tongues, Cool Grey drapes the patent leather on the mudguard that extends around the toe, heels, and ankles. The tongues feature an “Air Jordan” label, while the globe emblem with a Jumpman and the number 23 stitched adorns the heels. Other details include White on the laces, Jumpman on the lateral side, and midsole, while a smokey translucent rubber outsole completes the design.

The Air Jordan 9 “Cool Grey” will be released at select Jordan Brand retailers and online via Nike.com during Spring 2025. This means a release will take place between January and March 2025.
