Air Jordan 5 “El Grito” Releases September 2024

The Air Jordan 5 “El Grito” is a new colorway of Michael Jordan’s fifth signature shoe. With a release set for September 7, 2024, this pair will celebrate Mexican culture and Mexican Independence Day.

Jordan Brand is no stranger to celebrating Mexican culture. Over the past several years, both the brand and Nike have launched a Latin Heritage Month series. However, in 2024, they will debut the “El Grito” Air Jordan 5, which not only celebrates the culture but the release will pay homage to Mexican Independence Day. The day is celebrated on September 16th, the same month this Air Jordan 5 will be released.

El Grito, or Grito de Dolores, is a patriotic Mexican ceremony celebrated yearly at the Zocalo in Mexico City. It is a battle cry of the Mexican War of Independence from Spain, first performed by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, parish priest of Dolores (now Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato state), on September 16, 1810.

This Air Jordan 5 comes dressed in a Diffused Taupe, Dark Pony, Sail, and Apple Green color combination. Highlighted with Diffused Taupe across the upper, which also accents the mesh netting. In addition, the teeth on the midsole gradients using Green, White, and Red to represent Mexico’s flag. Sail adorns the midsole while Dark Pony fills in the liner and Jumpman logos. Lastly, a translucent rubber outsole completes the design.

Air Jordan 5 El Grito Release Date

You can expect the Air Jordan 5 “El Grito” to be released at select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike.com on September 7th, 2024. A retail price has yet to be announced at the time of writing. As soon as we have more information, we will make sure to update you.
