Some 18 years ago the LA Gear brand began a campaign that would not soon be forgotten. And for those of you who happen to have just started to forget, or for those of you who are young and oblivious enough to not know, SneakerFiles now brings you word of LA Gear’s intentions to smack us across the face (or, well, feet) with the reminder of a lifetime. The LA Gear Lights was the single most popular silhouette that LA Gear had to offer us, and it returns this holiday season in at least seven colorways.

Although not officially scheduled to release until December 12th, Sportie LA will make available a limited number of pairs via their online website at 11:59pm on Thanksgiving night, November 26, 2009. This should curb a lot of people’s appetites who are impatiently waiting to get the ball rolling on Black Friday shopping AND allow you enough time to go visit the other shops you’ve been eyeing all along. Just in time for the holiday season, this historical shoe in sneaker culture comes back and offers you a way of lighting up your own path and brightening up the place wherever it is you might be headed. Who’s excited to get another crack at once again (or for the first time) owning a pair of the LA Gear Lights that were such a big part of the childhood of so many of us?

Berlin-based boutique Solebox recently partnered up with PUMA to produce a limited version of the brand’s Trinomic-heavy R698. The shoe incorporates a white mesh middle panel and toebox and nylon upper that coordinates nicely with an ’80s inspired grey/powder blue/lilac/black color scheme. More importantly however, the collaborative effort is highlighed by light-up laces that flash when you walk. (LA Gear, anyone?) L.A Gear is relaunching their sneaker line using old styles with new looks. The men’s collection consists of Star Shooter High, KAJ, Star Player, Fire High and the Star Shooter Low. The aggressive styles of the L.A Gears are paired with bold color schemes and leather uppers. As for the women’s side, you can expect a combination of patent leather and bright colors used on the Flame High, Star Dust and Flame Low. After reporting a project consisting of Club Zonder Filter, Patta and LA Gear, we get a better look at the Fireball sneaker. The sneaker is featured in a fireball red upper along with bows on the heels. Alongside the bright upper, other girl based designs include a pink inner lining and sole and is finished off with cursive logos on the tongue and heel.

However, this is not the LA Gears we all came to love, but aesthetically it screams a contemporary twist on a classic with a helping hand from the two other parties. The release is scheduled for September 13th at Solebox, Sneakersnstuff, Colette, Patta and 24 Kilates. Via Sneaker Freaker.

What comes to mind when you think of LA Gear? Light-up shoes, superstar advertising, an alternative to Nike? Well whatever the case may be, LA Gear once ruled the black tops as kids seeked a shoe to keep them outside longer.

With that said, LA Gear teams up with Club Zonder Filter along with Patta to create new pair of sneakers. Release is scheduled for September 13th at Patta, however the three have big plans including a celebration prior to the release.
