Sneaker Room is back with another heartfelt project. Teaming up with NJ native and Nike basketball star Kyrie Irving. With 100% of the proceeds of the ‘MOM’ Kyrie 6, the Sneaker Room Foundation will be donating the money raised across several charities, hospitals, and organizations.
When thinking about designing a Kyrie, Sneaker Room owner Suraj Kaufman wanted to make something true to both his and Kyrie’s journey. Both New Jersey natives have endured the loss of their mothers, and he wanted to create something special to honor their memory.
Taking last year’s colorway theme but switching it up a bit. When searching for photos of Kyrie’s mother, one special photo stood out the most of her wearing a polka dot shirt, so you’ll spot polka dots on the inner lining of the shoe. Knowing that Suraj’s mother’s favorite color was gold, he wanted to incorporate that color. Our creative director, Jeff Rose, came up with the idea to change the logo on the tongue to display the word “MOM” in the same logo style font. Underneath the strap, you’ll find “ In honor of ____ “ that allows you to fill in the name of your loved one. You’ll find other details such as Suraj’s mother’s name Ellen on the left shoe and Elizabeth on the right shoe for Kyrie’s mother. The left shoe is covered in hearts, while the right shoe has roses.
Three colorways of the Sneaker Room x Nike Kyrie 6 ‘Mom’ will be available. Each will be limited, while the ‘Red’ has 2006 pairs produced for $200. The ‘Black’ pair is limited to 813 pairs and retails for $300. Lastly, the ‘Cream’ iteration is limited to 302 pairs and retails at $400. Available exclusively through Sneaker Room’s raffle, size ranges between 6-18.
