adidas will connect with the Pokémon company to create a collaborative lineup. Following past releases that paid tribute to fan-favorite characters, the “Mewtwo” ZX 8000 brings together nostalgia, storytelling, and lifestyle appeal. This collaboration will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Pokémon franchise.
This adidas ZX 8000 comes dressed in shades of Pink and Purple, representing Mewtwo’s genetic-lab origin theme. The upper features leather and synthetic materials, giving the shoe a retro runner feel while staying true to the ZX line. A subtle graphic on the side showcases Mew. A large eye appears on the panels, and “Mewtwo” is written in Gold.
Additional details include co-branded tongue labels, a Master Ball graphic on the insoles, and special lace dubraes that reference the collaboration. The Three Stripes are accented with contrasting tones to break up the upper, while the Torsion bar remains intact to stay faithful to the original ZX 8000 tooling. I love this collaboration and am happy to see adidas reconnecting with Pokémon to celebrate its 30th Anniversary. Mewtwo, the 151st Pokémon in the Pokedex, is a fan favorite. It’s one of my favorites, probably top 10. I would love to see the collection show love to Dragonite and Gengar. Hopefully, we see sneakers land for them also.
