We all remember what Kevin Durant did during his first ever visit to Rucker Park back in 2011. His 66 point performance was epic and definitely an experience that many will never forget. Again as a reminder, the forthcoming Nike KD VI (6) “NYC 66” pays homage to this very night.
The world took notice whenย Kevin Durant scorched the Harlem blacktopย scoring 66 points on Aug. 1, 2011. Durant would play against anyone, anywhere, anytime โย despite the pro basketball lockout.
“I’ve wanted to play at Rucker Park all my life,” Durant told one of the league’s emcees after his team won the game.
He was just a handful of points away from breaking the all-time park scoring record.ย The standout performance in New York spoke directly to the versatility of Durantโs game. The NYC appearance alsoย inspiredย this new KD VIย Foot Locker TV ad debuting here for the first time:

Indoor or outdoor, footwork and adaptability are key to KDโs on-court control.ย These two elements served as key insights forย the design of the KD VI.
Inspired by theย technical detailing of a precision wristwatch, designer Leo Chang included Nike Flywire, Nike Zoom, Max Airย and Hyperfuse construction for a dynamic design. The personalized storytelling comes to life with additional KD VI colorways scheduled to debut in coming months.
The KD VI NYC 66 will beย available globally beginning Aug.ย 17 at select retail locations andย Nike.com.ย The Nike KD Elite Crew Socks matching the KD VI NYC 66 shoe are now available atย Nike.com, while the Nike KD Backpack will be availableย hereย beginning Aug. 17.
