Nike and Jordan Brand will come together to launch the Nike Doernbecher Freestyle 21 Collection in Spring 2026. Expanding across multiple silhouettes, one of the pairs part of the latest collection is the Nike Air Max Plus. The shoes are designed by Sergio Cano Marquez and feature a mismatched theme.
Sergio, age 11, was diagnosed with Mucopolysaccharidosis type IV A (MPS IVA), a rare metabolic disorder that primarily affects the development of the skeletal system. To straighten his back, the doctors had to perform surgery to place a metal rod along his spine. Sergio will also need infusion therapy for the rest of his life. Even though he is young and has endured a lot, he likes to look on the bright side.
This Nike Air Max Plus by Sergio features a mismatched theme. The White shoe features a monster lizard eating a slice of pizza against a skyline. The mudguard features a Blue and Orange gradient with Blue on the TPU overlays. Purple lands on the mid-foot, while “MPS” appears on the heels.
As for the Black shoe, it’s themed after video games. It features an Xbox controller, ghosts, a spaceship, and unique designs. His name, “Sergio,” graces the heel with a pixelated design, with Black on the mudguard and TPU overlays.
Both will have basketball-textured leather on the tongues, with an “S” patch that shifts to showcase a pencil and a slice of pizza. The outsoles are glow-in-the-dark, and a pizza graphic runs across the insoles.

Sergio did a great job on the Air Max Plus. I love the graphics used on both sides, and even the White and Black base. Being a fan of video games (who isn’t?), I really like the right shoe. However, the Blue shade on the left is so nice. Overall, I think the 2026 Doernbecher collection is among the most sought-after, but that comes down to personal preference.
