Like every big celebration, Nike will bring back original colorways, and making a return is the “Freshwater” Air Griffey Max 1. Originally released in 1996 and worn by none other than Ken Griffey Jr.
The “Freshwater” iteration is one of, if not the most popular, colorway of the silhouette. Like previous iterations, this Nike Air Griffey Max 1 will come dressed in a White, Black, Fresh Water, and Varsity Red color scheme. Last released in 2021, the 2026 pair will share the same style code.
As for the look, it features White leather on the base with Black nubuck on the mudguard and eyestays. Known for its ankle strap, which displays Griffey’s number 24 and a Swoosh. Freshwater, a shade of Green, appears on the pull tabs, outlines the Swoosh on the heels, and is placed within the Air Max unit. Other details include Red accents and the signature baseball with flames on the outsole.
