Nike Basketball will dig into the early 2000s archive to bring back another popular yet forgotten model in 2027, the Air Flightposite 3. Created by Eric Avar, this model is part of the Alpha Projects line. Furthermore, it followed the release of the Flightposite One and the Flightposite 2. For the first time, the model will be re-released to the public.
Some will remember NBA players wearing this model. However, it wasn’t specifically tied to one player. Back in 2001 and 2002, you could see players like Kevin Garnett and Allan Houston. In 2019, Montrezl Harrell wore the “Battlegrounds” pair in Metallic Gold.
The model is known for its lenticular holograms on the sides, which look like large eyes and draw attention to the court. Furthermore, it’s built with a Foamposite upper, TPU straps on the forefoot and ankle. Other highlights include a Dynamic-fit sleeve, mesh windows, Zoom Air cushioning, and a carbon fiber shank plate.
Although multiple colorways of the Nike Air Flightposite 3 were originally released, including a Team Bank series, many fans are of the Battlegrounds line. This lineup included three colorways: Midnight Navy, Metallic Gold, and Metallic Silver.
At the time of writing, I can confirm the shoes will return in 2027. However, the specific colorways have not yet been announced. I was told by my sources that a total of three will be released, so this is good news for fans who have been waiting for the return.

The Air Flightposite 3 returning will hit home for a lot of hoopers, especially ones that wore this pair in Jr. High or High School. I remember that at my school, the shoes were popular, so no matter the colorways, I planned to grab one of two. I do suspect we will receive some original colorways, mixed in with new ones.
