Select Nike retailers and places like eBay had the pair of Nike Mad Jibe mids pictured here on sale towards the last week of December 2009. But, as any sneakerheads will understand, buying from previously unknown or unreputable sources can be nerve-wracking. Worry no more. The pair of black/black-flat opal Nike Mad Jibe mids have arrived at the online NikeStore and are available for purchase at an adult size retail price tag of $105. Now’s the chance to purchase Nike’s more sneaker-like alternative to boat shoes.

The boat shoe craze is not over yet, because Nike is just getting started. The Nike Mad Jibe Quickstrike is in full effect to take over the boat shoe hype. The shoe has a premium white leather perforated upper to give this shoe a sweet design, along with a clean white midsole and an icey blue outsole, which is something never been done before on any boat shoe. The shoelaces are made of leather and the Nike swoosh is embossed on the side panel to let people know Nike knows boat shoes. This shoe will be available in a numbered amount, but is available now in Europe for about $111.

Perhpas a more appropriate title for this write-up would be, “It’s Nautical, Sir.” After all, the Nike Mad Jibe “Boat Dunk” transitions away from the juvenile-spirited products being churned out of “The Beav”, opting for a more sophisticated and refined look. Down below, the Mad Jibe offers up the ubiquitous Dunk midsole and all of the cushioning and tractional elements you’d expect to see in standard SB fare. Up top, the shoe incorporates a “boat moccasin” toebox, striped laces, and silver lace eyerings. The ankle collar is reinforced with buttery smooth leather, so feel free to abuse these as you so choose. Oh, and check the debossed Nike logo plastered along the middle panel. Intriguing, right?
