Jordan Brand goes casual with the Air Jordan I (1) High Strap Brown Elephant Print, a strapped version of Mike’s first shoe, the iconic Air Jordan I (1). The shoe features a textured white leather upper with Brown Elephant Prints on the up front and around the ankle collar. 2009 has been dubbed as the year of the Air Jordan 1, and Jordan Brand continues to release new colorways of their first numbered model. This time around, the AJ 1 comes in a clean black on black style. To accent the simplicity of the colorway, Jordan Brand has incorporated various materials into this sneaker. The upper is coated in leather, ostrich (textured) leather, and synthetic mesh, while the sole comes in rubber. Unfortunately, there is no concrete release information regarding the Black/Black Air Jordan 1 (I) High Ostrich, but there are rumors floating around that the sneaker will release in the first week of July ‘09.

Back in ‘04, Nike prepared this exclusive “Beautiful Ones” Nike Air Trainer 1 for Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli. The shoe features a black/khaki premium leather upper contrasted by white stitching and a fabric-padded heel. “Beautiful Ones”, a nod to Kwe’s 2004 release, The Beautiful Struggle, is stitched onto the Trainer 1’s heel panel. All told, 25 pairs were given to Talib’s closest friends and some extremely lucky employees in Beaverton, making this promotional shoe truly rare Air. However inexplicable it may seem, one pair has found its way to eBay and is selling now at a BIN price of $1,588.99.

We previewed the Nike Alpholution back in May, and we are now receiving word that Nike’s newest hybrid basketball sneaker has begun to arrive at select retailers. The Alpholution is a combination of two classic Nike Basketball sneakers: the Nike Alpha Force and the Nike Air Revolution. June 25th 2009 is a day we will never forget, the day when pop star Michael Jackson passed away. Michael Jackson started his career at a young age, and has truly revolutionized the world of music. Our previous post was bitter sweet, bitter because a man died before his time, but sweet because many of the Sneaker Files readers came together to embrace the phenomenal singer.

Moving on, I am sure everyone of us can remember trying to do the moonwalk in our socks on the kitchen floor, or another one of Micheal’s moves. Hits like Thriller, Billie Jean, and Bad are amongst the many greats released. My personal all time favorite is Billie Jean, and coming in a close second is Beat It.

What Michael Jackson has accomplished and changed in the music industry is too much to list here. MTV probably would not be what it is today without Michael Jackson and the list of hits. As well, MJ was the first African American to have his music video aired on MTV.

Since we are a dedicated sneaker website, we will show Michael Jackson’s influence in the sneaker world, including his own line of LA Gears. Please share your thoughts, feelings, and what you remember. And please, lets think and talk about the good times of MJ. The first MJ many of us looked up to first.
