One of this week’s biggest releases thus far was that of today’s Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 High “World Famous” collection. Released earlier this morning at 11AM EST, this wasn’t your A-typical drop from Supreme. Crowned by its candid styling and synonymous Supreme color-blocking, these sneakers (like others from Supreme) were very hard to come by. An online release only, their website ultimately became a flood-gate for disaster leaving hundreds, if not thousands, empty handed. From the “hype beasts” and “resellers” to the “Day 1 Supreme fans”, only one question stands: Did You Cop?

Retailing for only $150, critics weighed in on each Nike Air Force 1 High style. We’ve heard everything from “Supreme fell off” and “They’re done…” to “I need these!” With opinions and emotions all over the place, the “World Famous” kicks still sold out within a matter of seconds and continue to fetch their near $500 resale mark. So why were they so hard to obtain? Having experienced problems in the past with releases at their NYC retail store, Supreme kindly released the statement: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, AF1 High will NOT be sold in our NY store.” Did this move by Supreme affect your ability to purchase the sneakers, or were you unbothered by the curveball?

We’d love to hear from you! What was your experience like today with this release? Did you cop? And more importantly, what do you think this means for the future of releases from Supreme? Does resulting to online launches resolve anything, or are we slowing killing the culture that we created?
