NBA Draft x Sneaker Files: Best Draft Picks of All Time Number 9 - Shaquille Shaq ONeal

The number 9 pick of the NBA Draft x Sneaker Files: Best Draft Picks of All Time is Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal. Born in 1972 in Newark, New Jersey, Shaq first received national attention when he played for Linton Middle School. Shaq then attended Louisiana State University where he became a two time All-American, two-time SEC player of the year.

When the 1992 NBA Draft came, everyone expected Shaq to be drafted, but the position was unknown. As the Draft started, the first pick went to Orlando Magic, and they choose Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq averaged 23.4 points and 13.9 rebounds per game his rookie season, and was named the 1993 Rookie of the Year.

Right before the upcoming school year in 1993, the first signature shoe for Shaq released, the Reebok Shaq Attaq. Besides the big man wearing the shoes, posters were made of Shaq at different ages with the Reebok Shaq Attaq. Although Shaq has moved on and started his own line of sneakers, the Reebok Shaq Attaq is still sought after by many collectors.

  6. Yo, I had every Reebok Shaq that dropped. I grew up in New Orleans and remember watching this dude play at LSU. Still my favorite player till this day. Whatever team he plays for is my team. Only reason I liked Orlando, LA, Miami and Phoenix. Wish he didn't make walmart shoes now.

WTF you mean you coppin' em? Unless you're abnormal and un-human, you don't wear the same size you did in the third grade so that means one of two things….

You will cop some 15 year old shoes that are probably un-fit to wear(hence the term collector) or you have some inside info on a retro release the sneaker-world doesn't know about.

    Which is it?
