Nike Zoom Kobe 4 (IV) - Lower Merion High School

Before Kobe Bryant was drafted into the NBA in 1996 by the Charlotte Hornets, he attended Lower Merion High School; thus, it comes as no surprise that the Pennsylvania institute will be receiving their own colorway of the Nike Zoom Kobe 4. This pair hosts a clean white upper accented by a red swoosh, silver toecap, red inner lining, silver tongue, red heel, and red/white laces. Overall, the sneaker yields a simple and fresh colorway that will definitely sell out if it ever makes its way to retail shelves. As of now, there is no release information available, so be sure to stay tuned for any updates.

Just as we were starting to think that Nike was beginning to stray away from the Zoom Kobe IV in favor of the newer Zoom Kobe V, images of a rather appealing colorway of the high performance basketball shoe have brought the shoe back into the spotlight. Similar to the Playoff Pack colorway we saw earlier in the year, the model utilizes a black and white upper, but forgoes the customary splash of Lakers blood featured in most of Kobe’s signature shoes. Few details about the model are known,  but word on the street is that we could be facing a limited release. Keep your eyes peeled for more information to come.

With the addition of the Nike Air Zoom Kobe IV to Nike iD’s long list of customizable shoes in January, we thought we’d seen the shoe in just about every colorway imaginable. Fortunately, Nike is still finding ways to breathe new life into the shoe, in this instance, offering the quarter and tongue in a previously unobtainable purple. The simple color scheme works well, offering an elegance that may have been missing in some of the busier colorways. No back story yet, but we could potentially be facing a new general release. If you don’t think you can wait it out, Marqueesole has them in stock now.

Nike Zoom Kobe IV (4) Draft Day - Hornets

On June 11, 1996, Kobe Bryant was drafted 13th overall by the Charlotte Hornets, then shipped out West to the Los Angeles Lakers. (The rest is history.) Nike is celebrating KB’s short-lived pit stop in Charlotte with a unique white/teal/blue color scheme of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV (4). The model features the draft date “6-11-96″ is inscribed along the heel and inside the shoe on the insole. The Zoom Kobe 4 features Nike Basketball’s Lunar Foam cushioning interface up front, and Flywire containment strands cover the sleek model’s middle panel. (Interestingly enough, the purple ‘Wire matches up nicely with the Hornets’ pinstriped jerseys!) Look forward to seeing the Nike Zoom Kobe IV (4) at House of Hoops later this Summer.
