Textile company Maharam and Nike Sportswear team up once again to create this collection of black-on-black classic Nike silhouettes. Largely material-driven, the collaboration models have been dubbed the ‘Basket’ Blazer, ‘Check’ Blazer, and ‘Staie’ Oregon Waffle. The use of all black really draws out the subtly of the fabric, and certainly makes the shoes worth a second take. Nike is appreciating the old school with its latest release of the Nike Air Max 90. This AM90 features a white/white-varsity maize colorway, a nice simple colorway which sports a full white leather and mesh upper. But, that’s not all; the black midsole rocks a varsity maize waffle iron design to pay homage to Bill Bowerman’s ingenious waffle iron idea, which he utilized for the Nike Waffle Racer and Nike Waffle Trainer. With the successful release of the Nike Air Force II (2) High Premium – Gucci, Nike has decided to continue their recent trend of applying Gucci colors to some of their classic models. This time, the Nike Waffle Racer 3 is outfitted in black, red, and green, but Nike does not directly state that this pair is inspired by Gucci. Whatever the case may be, this “Gucci” Waffle Racer 3 features a black upper with red and green accents seen on the laces and on the heel. To play up to the classy, elegant Gucci standard, Nike has included a patent leather toecap and swoosh. Expect for these to hit your local Nike retailers fairly soon. Via LTD.
