The Vans 106 is a simple low-top model that is neither extremely popular nor hugely unique, but is still nonetheless a solid skate sneaker. For their Winter 2009 collection, Vans is releasing the 106 in two simple tonal colorways. The first style hosts a purple upper with a white mid-sole, white laces, and white inner lining, while the second pair yields a brown upper with similar white accents. Both variations feature corduroy on the sidepanels while suede can be found on the tongue and toebox. Both versions of the “Corduroy” Vans 106 will be available in Winter ‘09.

Vans recently collaborated with Mastodon, an Atlanta-based metal band, to produce two new colorways of the Vans Sk8 High and two colorways of the Vans Slip On. All four sneakers feature some of Mastodon’s past album covers; two sneakers yield uppers that take inspiration from Blood Mountain, while the other two feature images from Crack the Skye. All four sneakers from the Mastodon x Vans Collection are now available for purchase.

The newest pack of sneakers from the California skate brand, Vans, is based off of a material not usually found on footwear—wool. This Vans Vault Wool Collection is composed of four models: Vans Slip-On, Sk8 High, Old Skool, and Chukka Boot. All four silhouettes feature dark premium leather, suede, and wool uppers accented by a cream sole. Alexander Lee Chang, a Tokyo based designer, recently teamed up with the folks over at Vans to create a new colorway of a classic silhouette. The Alexander Lee Chang x Vans Sk8 High features a rather simple color scheme which is contrasted by the use of various materials and patterns. A classic Vans’ checkerboard pattern is seen on the medial side of the sneaker, while the outer portion of the upper and the toebox are both decked out in black patent leather. The Alexander Lee Chang x Vans Sk8 High is now available overseas, and should be hitting retailers in the coming months.

The Vans Lvevl 46 LX and Half Cab LX recently hit Vault accounts overseas. Dressed up in creamy white, the 46 LX and Half Cab both feature a combination nylon/suede upper. Both shoes are distinguished by a prominent vulcanized midsole, a characteristic that’s become natural on nearly all of Vans’ silhouettes. Metallic eyelets set off the low top 46, while the Cab features a more conventional approach with the shoestrings. The Vans Vault Lvevl 46 LX & Half Cab LX Pack is available now at select Vault accounts in Japan. Expect them to drop Stateside in the coming weeks!

We haven’t seen or heard anything about the Crooks & Castles x Vans Fremont Hi for months now. Finally, Crooks is releasing the Vans collabo skate shoe at its Melrose store on June 6, 2009. The 8021 Flagship Store is located in sunny Los Angeles, and will showcase this shoe for sale while supplies last. We are speculating that this shoe will sell out like its black predecessor a few months back. This shoe features a white leather upper and green and red accents to go along with the C&C theme. Crooks is etched on the ankle strap in gold stitching to make this shoe a must-cop.
