After hearing about the Vans Re-Issue of the Ray Barbee Vans Old Skool ‘92, we were a little excited. What makes us go crazy is the fact that Vans has released a whole Ray Barbee Re-Issue collection to celebrate 20 years of the man’s professional skate career. The Re-Issue collection consists of the aforementioned Old Skool ‘92 LX in white and black colorways, a Vans Era ‘87 in green, and a Vans Chukka ‘95 in brown. All four skate shoes are released like it’s not even 2009, with the original materials, packaging, and everything else to every last detail. Previewed back in September, Vans has released a new colorway of their popular mid-top, the Vans Half Cab LX. Featuring a predominantly Black nubuck upper, the model is given some heavy contrast by its thick White piping. In August, we brought you an early look at a Chukka Mok Collection to be released sometime in the fall. Well, we now bring you word that the Vans Vault crew has begun to release these shoes, and we bring you a look at the complete collection. You already saw the two high-top pairs coming in brown and black. We also have pictures of their complementary low-top Chukka models. Every shoe comes with suede uppers, white soles, and a stitching pattern that meets between the sole and upper and runs around the entire shoe. We have seen the influence of many Japanese artists on sneaker releases over the years- take Taka Hayashi for example. Now, the Japanese Vans team has collaborated with the Disney Store out in Japan, and the result is the pair of Sk8 Highs we’re previewing for you here today. The shoes come in a black suede upper, with a white sole and mid-panel designs that consist of multi-colored Mickey Mouse headshots. With all of the hype surrounding and efforts put into releases like the “White Label Edition” Half Cab Pro’s, it’s pretty impressive how the Vans team seems to never lose track of all of its duties. In celebration of what is the brand’s 27th annual Triple Crown of Surfing event- which kicks off this November at Hawaii’s North Shore- Vans has teamed up with world renowned artist Taka Hayashi to come up with the pair of Authentic’s we’re showing you here. Drawing inspiration from the Hawaiian venue, this pair of sneakers comes in a black canvas upper that consists also of a reef-like pattern. The water is represented on the bottom of the shoe, which comes in all-blue; and inside the shoe there is an orange and white pattern with the words “Vans Triple Crown of Surfing Hawaii” spelled out. A predominantly white sole with orange label on the heel and complementary second pair of laces in orange tops this very sleek collaborative sneaker design.
