After previewing for you a series of Mountain Edition releases from Vans, we are now here to show you a collection that has released with some inspiration, perhaps, drawn from the farm. Pictured here is a pair of the Vans Slip-On and Sk8 Hi done up in a brown and white colorway. But what is perhaps worthy of more notice is the fact that the entire upper of both sneakers is made of cow hair material. This pack has begun to release from certain Vans retailers, so check-in with your preferred local spot to see if they do or plan to have these in stock.

We have seen the influence of many Japanese artists on sneaker releases over the years- take Taka Hayashi for example. Now, the Japanese Vans team has collaborated with the Disney Store out in Japan, and the result is the pair of Sk8 Highs we’re previewing for you here today. The shoes come in a black suede upper, with a white sole and mid-panel designs that consist of multi-colored Mickey Mouse headshots. With no stateside release in sight, you can find these at Japanese Vans retailers online and save yourself the trip.

The Vans stripe is given a cross-stitched makeover to really enforce the theme. The tongue features a colorful tribal patch, and the ankle is dressed with tassles that will definitely be flying when doing a trick in mid-air. Not too long ago we saw the adidas Originals line draw from the rich African heritage and design a set of sneakers sure to remind many people of the different cultures on that continent. Now, it is Vans searching for cultural influence. The pair of Vans Slip-On’s and Sk8 Hi’s pictured here are part of a “Mexican Blanket” collection reportedly dropping during the 2009 holiday season at certain Vans retailers. The same pattern that envelopes this pair of Slip-On’s can be seen on the middle and back of the Sk8 Hi’s, leaving more room towards the front for a purple suede upper with red shoe laces. Check in with several Vans retailers as different ones have already begun to receive this collection and are ready for sale.

Last summer we reported on a collaboration between the Vans team and skateboarder Jeff Grosso. This duo is now back at it again. A part of this pack is the Vans Sk8 Hi, Sk8 Mid, and Era. The Sk8 Hi boasts the most green out of all three shoes. While the Sk8 Mid and Era are made of predominantly black/white bases with very minimal green accents- such as on the back of the sole. Look out for this pack, as it is supposed to release as part of Vans’ 2009 Holiday collection.

Last year, Japanese sneaker aficionado Silas collaborated with Vans to result in a Black-Turquoise Sk8 High- which was also a part of Vans’ 30th year anniversary. In 2009, the two went at it again. This time, the resulting Vans Sk8 High consists of a repeating white/black pattern along the side with red accents and the patented all-white sole. A very select group of Silas retailers received this Vans Sk8 High in late August- so, unless you know of a Silas retailer AND it happens to have these in stock, your best bet might be searching for these online. Happy hunting!
