adidas’ classic Superstar will be going under a few changes geared for skateboarding. The Superstar Vulc is a modified to feature a vulcanized outersole along with Aaron Horkey providing artwork. Horkey is most knonw for his highly detailed illustrations and hand lettering. A few graphics appear on the heel and on the insole. Furthermore, the navy and grey color scheme is complimented by neon accents reported to glow-in-the-dark. Release is slated for next month at adidas Skateboarding accounts. Via Complex.

Released in 2006, socio-documentary Just For Kicks analyzed the global sneaker phenomenon, pointing out the underlying forces and layers that fueled the global market that nets nearly $26 billion per year. The film features appearances from Bobbito Garcia, Raekwon, and Damon Dash, who all contribute hilarious personal anecdotes and unique diatribes to the film.  Combine this with thought-provoking statistics, and you have an incredibly compelling piece of visual work.  That same year, adidas worked collaboratively with JFK’s producers to draft up a special limited release of the brand’s iconic Superstar.  Toned up in a monochromatic white/white color scheme, the shoe if enhanced by a “Just For Kicks” engraving that reads from lace-to-midsole along the model’s three stripes logo. Coming out of this past year’s NBA season a champion, the Boston Celtic’s achievements has been recognized through adidas’ latest Superstar. The Boston Celtics Superstar stay true to the team’s logo colors and features a white sole and toe and with the majority of the sneaker appearing in gold. In addition, green lining and branding ties in everything in together. Definitely a favorite in many people’s books, the adidas Superstar is the subject in the latest Sneaker Pack from the Originals Craftmanship series. The on-going series features classic color-way alongside new make-ups while under going subtle changes in the process.  The most apparent modification on the classic Superstar is the slimmed down profile and use of ostrich skin embossing on the upper. The pack is made up of the original white and black color-way along with the addition of a black and real wolf fish skin design. Both sneakers are now available at adidas Originals retailers.
