Sneaker Files co-owner Steve Kluback sat down with Paul Litchfield, the founding father of the Reebok Pump, to discuss the technology’s 20-year history. Originally released in 1989, Pump technology has been worn by sports legends such as Dominique Wilkins, Dee Brown, and Michael Chang, and continues to remain relevant and exciting in the modern sneaker industry. Recently, the Pump has stirred excitement with it’s 20th Anniversary Collection that released at select collaborative boutiques today.

We’ve seen the 20th anniversary of the Reebok Pump celebrated with a variety of collaborations. Today, we brought you a look at St. Alfred’s take on the Reebok Pump 20. Now, world famous ALIFE Rivington Club is ready to show off its Pump 20 design. This Pump 20 comes in a familiar off-white nubuck upper, white accents, black writing, and a gum outsole. As part of the 20th anniversary of the Reebok Pump, ARC Sports (situated conveniently across the street from ALIFE Rivington Club in downtown New York City) will release these on Friday November 20, 2009 with only a total of 31 pairs available. How does this colorway and execution stand up to the rest of the Pumps we’ve seen prepared for this celebratory time in Reebok history?

With November 20th just around the corner, we’ve already previewed a lot of the Reebok 20th Anniversary Collection collaboration models, but a few shops are still building the suspense. The latest sneaker to be unveiled is the work of Chicago sneakershop, St. Alfred. Fitted with a boot-like colorway, the model features a brown/green upper, nubuck panels, metal eyelets, and rope laces. The quilted lining and signature insoles present some high-scoring detail work, an instance of the boot/sneaker crossover being accomplished with taste. The Timberland-esque model will be released with the rest of the collection on Friday, November 20th at noon — but with only 31 pairs available, you might want to get up early.

Fresh off of catching wind of Patta’s role in the Reebok Pump 20 celebration, we can now introduce the Kicks/HI festive contribution. Pictured here is the product of a collaboration between Reebok and Hawaii-based Kicks/HI- a Pump 20 that sports a colorway patterned after the ocean and in support of eco-friendly endeavors. The upper comes in different shades of blue to represent the depth of the waters, while the tan outsole represents the sand bed and speckled midsole the sea spray.
