Diminutive floor leader and Reebok frontman Allen Iverson has worn a white/blue color way of his latest signature shoe, the Answer XII, over the course of the past week. Specifically, he debuted the model on November 19, 2008 against LeBron and the Cleveland Cavs. From the images, it appears as if the outsole of the XII incorporates some sort of midfoot stability element, presumably to mitigate the negative impact of lateral forces. Up top, the shoe’s toecap is inspired by the iconic Question Mid. When technical info becomes available to us, we’ll be sure to update! Oh yes, the coveted NCAA player sample. Division one ballplayers have been hit off with buttery one-of-ones, samples, and exclusives in colors often unreleased to the public. The Boston College Golden Eagles campus is located near Reebok’s Canton, Mass. headquarters. It is this close proximity that led to the brand sponsoring the Eagles, who wear team colors of burgundy/gold. Inspired by iconic interloper Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Reebok’s latest Court Victory Pump Mid is distinguished by luxurious suede and a casually-geared brown/light brown colorway. Underfoot, the shoe is augmented by a pocket of Hexalite cushioning, but most importantly, the shoe incorporates a cute version of Rudy into the insole. Oh, and the Red Pump “bladder” is just too cute! (Seriously Reebok, good work on the symbollic connections! I dig!) It was the trade of all trades. Legendary Philadelphia 76ers point guard Allen Iverson was being shipped to the Denver Nuggets, further enchancing the talent-rich Western Conference. Secondly, there were hopes that the brazen, yet veteran guard would provide the leadership and skills necessary to make the hopeful Nuggets a title contender. The stars never aligned for the Nuggs, as they made a series of early exits in the playoffs, but at least the lightning-quick Iverson was doing it in style. Reebok blessed the Answer with an exclusive pair of his tenth signature shoe, the Answer X in a beautiful white/powder yellow/sky blue color scheme. The X was a beautifully sculpted piece of kit, as it incorporated an exaggerated CMEVA midsole, half-zipper/half tradional lace closure system, and podular outsole to impart an organic feel on-court. A 2007 Reebok Basketball advertisement proclaimed, “Different Question, Same ANSWER.” The conspicuous slogan was implemented in an embargo for the Question III, the latest from Allen Iverson’s other line. The shoe proved to be a generally unassuming ride, with RBK’s Hexalite cushioning interface placed in the heel and forefoot, a magnetic midfoot strap for added sturdiness up top, and circular TPU inserts integrated into the upper for added ventilation. Team Reebok ballplayer and San Antonio Spurs forward Brent Barry wore the shoe sparingly in ’07, but when he did, he sported the model in a unique white/black colorway to perfectly match his home uniform. Barry’s version is enhanced by “Team” (I’m dissapointed–where’s his “Bones” moniker?) inscribed along the heel, but otherwise, there’s nothing that differs between these and the general release version. Toned up in a Houston Rockets-inspired patent red/white color scheme, this unique pair of Reebok Pump Showstoppers was manufactured for the exclusive in-game use of 7’6 Yao Ming. The shoe is distinguished by the brand’s Vector insignia along the middle panel and PUMP technology out back that allows for a customizable fit when playing. Before Reebok signed Shanghai product Yao Ming to an exclusive contract that would allow for limitless marketing potential in densely populated China, the 7’6 center flirted with brands from across the industry, trying to find the perfect fit. Yao’s extensive negotiations led to Adidas fabricating a one-of-one look- see sample of the high-rising adidas Instinct with his name stitched across the ankle. The shoe is toned up in Houston Rockets poppyseed red and sunshine yellow and features the brand’s trefoil logo inscribed on the heel and mesh accents on the sneaker’s lateral side midpanel.
