Returning to the 1980’s, Puma is releasing a pack paying homage to the days in which they were one of the pioneers of material variety on a sneaker. At this point, Puma set themselves apart by defying all current conventions on color coordinations and style. The two shoes releasing in the pack include the Slipstream and Disc Blaze. The Slipstream features animal print hair, fluorescent accents, and a bright multicolored sole. The Disc Blaze is patterned in the same manner although the sole in not brightly colored and the lacing system maintains true to the Disc Blaze design. Not well known for its sneaker performance on the basketball court, Puma has decided to focus on that realm and re-release the Puma Slipstream. Nicknamed the “Beast” in 2002- after being re-released for the first time- this set of Puma Slipstreams are known as “Monsters.” While one pair of Slipstream Monsters uses a vibrant color combination to grab your attention, the other is made primarily of a black base and colorway. Both pairs include a mix of patent leather, reptile skin, and fur. And both pairs can now be snagged at certain Puma retailers worldwide, as well as from places like Colette.

Inspired by the enticing nature of fishing lures, this new Puma Suede collection is quite the eye-catcher. Visually emulating the flashy design of said lures, the shoes feature reflective fish scale patterning on the heel panel and a contrasting speckled pattern across the rest of the upper. A late addition to Puma’s First Round ‘Soda Pack‘, this new ‘Coca-Cola’ colorway may very well be the strongest sneaker of the bunch. The classic red and white upper against a cola-colored sole makes for some rather appealing eye candy– a visual identity that couldn’t find its way into the other Orange ‘Sunkist’ and Green ‘7 UP’ models. Puma is not showing any signs of letting up with it’s Clyde releases. Two more Clyde packs to be on the lookout for in the Fall of 2009 have surfaced and been labeled the “Africa” and “Raps” Clyde packs. The two pairs that make up the Clyde “Africa” pack are made up of darker colorways on a leather base that also includes a colorful pattern near the eyelets of each pair. The Clyde “Raps” pack contains two pairs of sneakers with more vibrant color combinations and a spotted design near the toe box.
