In celebration of the “Batmania” frenzy that has infiltrated the nation, Nike and Kobe Bryant crafted a shoe that was inspired by The Dark Knight’s moonstruck villain, the Joker. Toned up in a unique white/team grey/purple/Joker green color scheme, the Chaos ZKIV features multicolored laces and a blood spattered sockliner. The model features Nike Basketball’s Flywire containment system and bouncy Lunar Foam in the forefoot. The model’s outsole is comprised of a multidirectional herringbone outsole. Now that Kobe Bryant himself has started rocking the Nike Zoom Kobe IV on court, many are in anticipation of when these low-top sneakers will hit retailers near them. If you are one of these people, then today we will bring you a pleasant surprise. Eastbay has started taking orders for the “Carpe Diem” colorway of the ZKIV and will start shipping out beginning on January 17, 2009. It is a bit unusual for Eastbay to put a sneaker on their site that they are not ready to ship out fairly quickly, but this might be a pleasant surpise for those wanting to reserve their pair right now.

As most of us have seen by now, the late Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker in The Dark Night was absolutely amazing. We are now seeing evidence that Kobe Bryant also found Ledger’s role to be great and has decided to release a colorway of his newest sneaker, the Nike Zoom Kobe IV, in order to commemorate the performance. Though the name of the colorway does not contain a direct reference to the Joker, anyone that has seen The Dark Night can easily relate the word, “chaos” with the Joker. The Nike Zoom Kobe IV “Chaos” features a multicolored upper consisting of a purple base with white, red, and silver accents. This colorway, along with all other colorways of the ZKIV, will include flywire technology and will weigh in at a mere 11.6 ounces.
