Our last release update of the Nike SB Dunk low “Chirping Bird” informed our readers of an expected Spring 2010 release period. Although January and February have both come and gone, it’s just now Spring, people! So get excited for the… “Larry Perkins?”

Yes, the “Chirping Bird” Nike SB Dunk low pictured here has been more accurately re-nicknamed the “Larry Perkins-” after a fictitious skateboarding character who supposedly got a huge kick from making prank phone calls on behalf of Big Brother Magazine. To that extent, the chirping noise has since been replaced with a telephone ring in allusion to those aforementioned prank phone calls. This long-awaited Nike SB Dunk low is scheduled to drop later this month, with many shops having a slated release date of this Saturday, March 20.

Nike SB Dunk Low Premium - St. Patrick's Day / Green Hemp

Nike SB certainly does not miss any occasion that can inspire a new pair of sneakers. This time around, the rumored inspiration behind this SB Dunk Low is St. Patrick’s Day, the March 17th holiday that celebrates the life of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Whatever the inspiration may be, this Dunk hosts a green suede and hemp-like upper accented by a white toebox, white midsole, black outsole, and white inner lining. A few other key aspects of this pair are the thin laces and thin tongue. The “St. Patrick’s Day” Green Hemp Nike SB Dunk Low Premium will release in March 2010.

Perhaps it was MLK day that set the tone for a rather patriotic week, as we already showed you the “Harlem Globetrotters” Reebok Talkin’ Krazy II this morning. Now we’d like to show you another sneaker that might exude a patriotic feel. A comparable pair to the previously discussed medium grey Nike SB Dunk high, the Nike SB Dunk low pictured here comes in a predominantly red suede upper, with sharp blue accents by way of the heel tab, tongue and shoe laces. With a white toe box and midsole, this sneaker sports very commonly worn colors that might make it a must-have this year. But at least you have some time to decide if that’s true, as we’ll bring you any developing news regarding an official drop whenever that becomes known.

Featuring a patent Swoosh and red outsole, if the shoe’s feathered lining isn’t enough avian paraphernalia to warrant its nickname, its chirping sound tongue implant certain is. February is only a stone’s throw away, so make sure you stay tuned for more specific release details.

ChirpingBird1

Last month, the SB Dunk Low “Chirping Bird” made quite a bit of noise in the sneaker community (pun intended). The design still entails a black suede upper with patent leather Nike swoosh and red outsole. Unfortunately, there’s another thing that hasn’t changed since then- these are still in the sample stage. Without a concrete release decision- let alone date- a pair of these Nike SB Dunk Low’s in the usual sample size 9 has become available for sale through ATB. Moreover, a video of the store displaying how the chirping sound works can now be watched via YouTube. At a going rate of $625, who out there likes this pair of Dunk’s so much he/she is willing to pay the hefty price? We might soon find out.

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro - Spring 2010

The upper sports varsity red in suede with a white toebox to match the midsole and white accents throughout the shoe. Blue lines the midsole to match the tongue, and the shoe is completed with a varsity red outsole. The Nike logos are stitched in red on the back ankle panel and tongue tag to enforce the red tone of the shoe. This will be released sometime next spring so keep it locked.
