If you’re familiar with the Japanese manga series, “Slam Dunk,” then you’ll be excited to hear that the illustrator of the manga, Takehiko Inoue, is bringing his creativity to the Nike Hyperize model. The Takehiko Inoue x Nike Hyperize comes in a bright white/carolina blue colorway. The upper consists of an allover print of Inoue’s characters and drawings, and even feature laces that carry his intricate design as well. It’s so cool for a sneakerhead watching a great basketball game to glance at a player’s feet and see a fresh sneaker to ball in that is like the cherry on top of it all. We already saw Nike design a Player Edition of the Nike Hyperize for Pau Gasol, and now it seems as if the brand has done the same for Ben Gordon. Now that the superstar guard is on the Detroit Pistons squad, his PEs retain red and white but sport blue instead of black. This particular PE pair comes in a predominantly red/white upper with blue accents such as on the Nike swoosh outline. Nike seems to be helping Pau Gasol make a run at repeating with his Los Angeles Lakers teammates as NBA champions with the creation of his Hyperize PE. But Nike is definitely no stranger to hooking up the young’ns also. Coming soon to House of Hoops locations nationwide is a first wave of Nike Hyperize sneakers inspired by four different NCAA teams- Texas, UConn, USC, and Illinois. Perhaps this is Nike’s way of helping Jeffrey Jordan (his airness’ son) make up his mind and return to play on the Fighting Illini’s squad. When Nike puts its mind to commemorating a certain person and/or event, it usually goes all out and does it right. Take the pair of London and Paris Nike Hyperize’s as an example. They released in the New York House of Hoops in celebration of House of Hoops expanding to both overseas cities. This weekend, yet another House of Hoops location opens up- this time in Houston. If you’re one of the top teams in the NCAA, no doubt Nike is going to hook your team up with exclusives for the players. The Nike Hyperize has been given exclusive colorways for USC and UCONN. The USC player exclusive features an away colorway, using black patent leather and black flywire with a yellow printed swoosh. It is contrasted by red and yellow accents to keep with the Trojan colorway. The UCONN PE sports a home colorway, with a white leather upper and opaque flywire panel with a blue printed swoosh. Red and blue are added in the mix to match the UCONN uniforms. The letters of each college are placed on the tongues of each respective shoe. Look out for these babies while watching your favorite teams on TV.

Nike recently paid homage to a couple of overseas balling organizations with the London and Paris Hyperize’s. Now they’ve turned their attention to a fellow NBA champion teammate of Kobe’s. The Nike Hyperize has been done up especially for Pau Gasol, and this PE shoe will become available at House of Hoops locations come November. With a predominantly white and LA Lakers purple upper, gold accents can be found on the shoe laces, Nike swoosh, and near the midsole. Recent news concerning the Nike Hyperize includes a low-top cut of the basketball sneaker slated to release next summer. But now we have more time sensitive information regarding the Nike Hyperize. In celebration of two overseas House of Hoops locations- London & Paris- Nike is set to release two Nike Hyperize’s that each draw inspiration from the aforementioned cities’ local basketball team. The “London Capital” Nike Hyperize sports a predominantly sky blue upper with navy blue and white accents, while the “Paris Levallois” pair sports a predominantly “blue sapphire” upper with red and white accents. It is rather fitting that in an effort to celebrate the opening of these two new House of Hoops locations that a third, and arguably bigger city, be the venue in which the material manifestations of this celebration go on sale. TOMORROW, Thursday September 24, 2009 is when these two pairs of Nike Hyperize’s will drop at the Harlem House of Hoops in New York City. Get your funds right!
