For this holiday season, we saw that the French Lanvin brand has created a high-top sneaker with a 100% cow hide upper. That colorway may remind many of how sneakers look with denim materials along the upper. That’s where Nike comes in. For this holiday season, Nike actually brings back the denim look with the two pairs of Big Nike highs pictured here. The first pair comes with purple laces and patent leather portions, while the second pair comes with contrasting stitching to resemble jeans. Both pairs are available now from select online retailers.

For so many sneakerheads, whatever a company decides to do on the sole of a particular shoe can very well make or break it. For example, the Air Jordan XI is revered almost as much, if not AS much, for the patent leather as the icy sole. However, that is not to say that other cool ideas can’t be implemented in such an important part of the shoe. To that extent, we would like to show you the “Paint Drip” Nike Big Nike high, which obviously gets its nickname from what looks to be spilled paint that is dripping down the entire sole until hitting the dark outsole. Meanwhile, the sneaker’s upper comes in a mix of different shades of grey as well as different materials. We knew Nike would create a collection of Valetine’s Day-inspired shoes for 2010 as it has for years passed. In fact, we’ve already taken a look at some of them, including a lilac Nike Aerofit high and a red/white Nike Air Force 1 low. Now you can officially add the Nike Big Nike high pictured here to the collection. It comes in a predominantly pink upper, with red ankle lining and a red midsole. The Nike swoosh and outsole come in white. Furthermore, a description of that crazy thing called love can be found on the tongue of this shoe. There’s no question that Valentine’s Day is behind this release. The Nike Big Nike High “Valentine’s Day” 2010 is making its way to participating Nike retailers now, so check-in with your favorite shop as the actual date of February 14th approaches.

Every month Nike has a whole lineup of releases to please us sneaker enthusiasts. Today, we have a look at a couple of this months treats, and they come in the form of the Nike Big Nike High and Nike Air Max 90. The Nike Big Nike High takes inspiration from the varsity royal Air Jordan I’s by following the same color scheme; the only difference is the characteristic “Nike” logo printed at the back heel. The Nike AM90 is part of the Nike Rivals pack that has been prevalent this holiday season, and comes in a white/grey/black/red colorway. The upper consists of white mesh, grey nubuck, and red leather, offset by a black premium leather mudguard and red waffle print midsole to keep it classic. Both are available now at select Nike retailers such as Proper LBC.

Thanks to not only its own silhouette, but also to color executions like the dark grey/metallic silver job, the Nike Big Nike high is gaining popularity among sneakerhead circles everywhere. Now, this Nike model gets done up in a classic black/black colorway. However, it also has the added twist of elephant print along the entire upper and nubuck on the mid panels and toe box. Is this worthy of an “all black everything” outfit?

Aside from the hype about the Spike Lee Nike Big Nike, Nike is still releasing the model in some great colorways. The Nike Big Nike High comes in a dark grey/metallic silver-white colorway. The hightop shoe uses a dark grey suede toe, white leather toebox, dark grey scale skin leather side panel, dark grey leather, and metallic silver swoosh to make this a very detailed shoe. The dark panels are contrasted nicely by a white midsole and white leather heel panel, where the Nike logo is printed in bold lettering. These are available now online at LTD and PYS for $80.

It was in the beginning of August that we found out Kobe’s biggest supporter- Lil Dez from the MVPuppets commercial campaign- would be gettin’ treated to his own pair of the Nike Big Nike. The shoe sports a red upper with purple lining and a white sole. There are congratulatory remarks to Kobe on the shoe as well as a picture of Lil Dez on the insole of one shoe, and another set of nagging questions meant for Kobe on the other insole. Lastly, instead of readin’ “NIKE” on the heel, it will read “LIL DEZ.” Starting tomorrow, Tuesday October 27, 2009, you will be able to pick these up at House of Hoops locations stateside.
