It was all the way back in May when we first brought you a look at a Nike Air Trainer 1 made in commemoration of Bo Jackson and his athletic achievements. But we got such an early look at the shoe that rumors ran wild about the exclusivity of this shoe- leaving most people to deal with the cruel “reality” that this could be a 1-of-a-kind production. But no need to fret- we now have word that the “Bo Knows” Nike Air Trainer 1 will be hitting select FootLocker locations as soon as next week. Naturally, the shoe comes in Oakland Raiders silver & black, but also has other touches specific to Bo Jackson’s career- such as what appears to be an OG baseball video game rendition of the superstar that transcended so many sports. You will NOT want to sleep on these, as they will not only be limited, but also sell like hot cakes.

Minnesota Vikings running back and Nike spokesman Adrian Peterson showcased his sneaker quiver on “Inside the NFL” with Rachel Nichols last weekend. The Pro Bowler estimates that he’s spent nearly $200,000 on his sneaker and shoe collection, and has over 200 pairs. All Day’s favorite pair is his very own Nike Air Trainer 1. “I want to thank Good Lord for making me a Yankee,” said Joe Dimaggio. Such is true, as the whole New York Yankees team received exclusive Nike Air Trainer 1s in a sweet NY Yankees colorway. The Nike Air Trainer 1 is decked out in Yankee blue at the toebox and flywire panel. White contrasts the dark blue at the toe, swoosh, and inner lining. New York makes its name at the back heel and tongue tag. The insole commemorates the retired numbers of the Yankee greats. On the opposite side of the tongue tag sports the Yankees logo and the aforementioned quote by Dimaggio. Too bad this is a team exclusive, because these would be great additions to any Yanks fan.

Following a win over Oscar De La Hoya and before fighting Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao was honored with the creation of a pair of gold/red/white Nike Air Trainer 1’s. 100 pairs of the 200 created were distributed to friends and family of the Filipino boxer, while the other 100 went on sale at places like Las Vegas’ Undefeated shop. Now, a follow-up Air Trainer 1 dubbed the “Lights Out” pair will be released by Nike next Friday, September 25th- but only at the Nike flagship spot in Fort Bonifacio, Philippines. These glow-in-the-dark kix sport a predominantly black upper with slight grey and green accents and are also very limited- as only one pair per person will be allowed. How bad do YOU want these? We’re giving you about a week to come up with your master plan and snag a pair of these historical kicks that were aptly nicknamed after Manny Pacquiao’s dismantling of Ricky Hatton last May 2nd, 2009.

NOBODY who knows a MODICUM of sneaker history can even TRY to forget the Nike Air Force 1 Playstation’s that were created in celebration of the Sony Playstation’s ten-year anniversary. Now, Ron Eagle, Director of Product Publicity at Sony Playstation, collaborated with Nike on a shoe he has liked for quite some time- the Nike Air Trainer 1. Again drawing cues from the iconic Sony Playstation gaming system, this Nike shoe not only includes colors seen on the game consule but even characters seen on the complementary controller as well. Availability is limited to 24 pairs on these, so unless you can both FIND someone selling a pair AND afford the undoubtedly high price tag- you, like I, are out of luck. Although there was already a Nike Air Trainer 1 colorway inspired by Portland Trailblazers star Brandon Roy, it wouldn’t be complete without having the pro-baller design his own. Thus, B-Roy created the Nike iD Air Trainer 1 in a purple-inspired colorway with some red and black accents. “FT” is stitched on the side to stand for “free throws” and “Rose City” makes its mark on the back heel because Roy wants to bring a championship home. Flywire technology is implemented in the shoe along with a purple outlined swoosh and purple laces to complete the colorway. Check out the Nike site to watch a thirty-four second video.

In the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, both the Canadian men’s and women’s hockey teams outlasted the United States’ respective teams in both tournaments. Despite skating as guests in Salt Lake City, Utah’s E Center and Peaks Ice Arena, the Canadian squads overcame giving up home ice advantage. Nike has since then conjured up what might very well function as inspiration for the Canadian hockey teams to prevent the United States from returning the favor when the Winter Olympic Games come to Vancouver in 2010.

Nike releases the MMX Collection on August 6, 2009 with a series of three superior training shoes. The first shoe pictured is the Nike Air Trainer 1- an updated version of the original hybrid model- and represents ice. The concept of team is said to have inspired the collection’s second shoe- the Nike Free Sparq 09, which boasts the low-top design necessary for vigorous training. And the Nike Zoom Swift TR rounds out the MMX Collection by depicting fire. The shoe series will be available for purchase at select Nike retailers throughout Canada.
