Previewed last week, this latest Spike Lee inspired Air Max 97 colorway came on to the scene with little warning, clearing matching the recently released tribute Blazer High and Big Nike High models. Although the sneaker lacks Lee’s signature glasses on it’s tongue tag, it still features a killer White/Red/Green/Black color scheme. As we said earlier this month, Nike seems to want to carry the astounding hybrid momentum from 2009 into 2010. Pictured here is the latest Air Max hybrid: the 24-7. As you can see, it borrows cues from the Nike Air Max 95 and applies them to the lacing area & heel, from the 97 and makes a sleek/wave-like upper, and from the 360 to be incorporated onto the sole. Reportedly dropping in Spring/Summer of 2010, do you think the Nike Air Max 24-7 fusion could have been better executed? Or is this as good as it gets to you? Spike Lee has been often named in conjunction with sneaker drops, perhaps never as often as this year, however. The Spike Lee pack originally thought to consits of a Nike Big Nike and Blazer for sure, now seems to PERHAPS include an Air Max 97 that sports the same colorway as the Blazer. The Spike Lee glasses that come on the tongues of each of the first two shoes mentioned are lost on the Nike Air Max 97’s- which calls into question the validity of it as part of the Spike Lee pack. But there certainly is no denying the white/green/red/black color-up that seems to match the Spike Lee Nike Blazer’s almost to the T. Either way, these AM 97’s will be made available only through certain Nike retailers- including, perhaps the more equipped, online sites.

We last saw the retro of the original Nike Air Max 97 in metallic silver and varsity red. This time, we have the Nike Air Max 97 LUX LE in a black colorway. This AM97 rocks an all black upper with various grey accents throughout the front of the shoe to contrast the black mesh and rubber materials. The Nike Air Max unit has a dark translucent hue to keep this shoe dark, along with a sweet translucent outsole. Of course, these 97’s have the reflective material making this another classic shoe. Just as usual, Nike is bringing back hits from the past. This time around, the Nike Air Max 97 has been retro’ed in the metallic silver/varsity red/neutral grey colorway. Although 1997 was only twelve years ago, it doesn’t hurt to have a fresh pair to rock. The shoe uses metallic silver leather and mesh, and most of all, the reflective lining throughout the shoe. To finish things off right, the shoe has a white midsole with Air Max unit and a clean black outsole. These are going for $250 overseas right now.

With the Air Max 90 and Air Max 95 hogging all of the spotlight as of late, it is nice to see a new Air Max 97 in the market. The latest design yields this ‘97 consisting of subtle color scheme of black, cool grey and white. Each color is used liberally and black appears on the lowermost stripe while the rest of the sneaker is made up of white and grey. Expect to see this Air Max 97 dropping this month and has done so at a few stores including Rock Paper Scissors.
