Following our SneakerHead Spotlight with Vanessa of PYS and brief video teaser of the kicks last week, we now have our first look at the upcoming collab between New Balance and PickYourShoes.

Dubbed the “Mint Condition” and designed by Mako, the collaboration features the 574 decked out in premium materials and sporting a never-before-seen color blocking scheme.

This Spring 2012, New Balance will look to continue bringing forth more high quality sneaker products with the release of their new collection of New Balance 574 models.

Consisting of 4 new colorways – maize yellow, burgundy, purple, and tan – each silhouette will feature soft premium nubuck, mesh, and leather materials. Aside from the sneakers’ contrasting color blends, each 574 model will be completed with classic signature branding, include the iconic ENCAP midsole designed for extra cushioning, and display a black outsole. By the looks of it, the New Balance 574 model will continue to appear throughout the New Year in more interesting colorways, suitable for anyone’s taste.

New Balance helped commemorate this year’s New York Marathon by designing a taxi cab-inspired New Balance 574. That style is also being used in a Dragon Pack; and, it’s now been spotted in the “sunset” colorway pictured here. This pair boasts a golden yellow and sharp blue color palette with white accents by way of the ankle lining, shoe laces and part of the midsoles. Look for these to drop at New Balance carriers during the earlier part of 2012.

A mere ten days after covering a collaborative project between New Balance and a number of different retailers concerning the ML581 model, we get some news regarding another great collaborative effort between New Balance and some more shops in anticipation of celebrating the upcoming year. As many of you already know, 2012 will be the Chinese Zodiac year of the Dragon. That is where the inspiration for this model 574 Dragon Pack comes from. The brand is working closely with Singapore’s Limited Edt, Taiwan’s Invincible, China’s NPC and both Whiz and mita Sneakers from Japan. Check out the interesting dragon-inspired colorways of the New Balance 574 pictured here and stay tuned for developing release news and variations because those are still up in the air.

We recently took a look at the New Balance 574 ‘Babe the Blue Ox’, which was closely inspired by the ‘American Tall Tales’ character in various tones of blue.

To pair it up with that particular 574 model, New Balance has created the New Balance 574 ‘Paul Bunyan’ inspired by the famous lumber jack in the American Tall Tales stories. The ‘Paul Bunyan’ New Balance 574 features a rugged, outdoorsy feel with brown and tan suede materials and sport mesh, touched up with red accents.

These made-in-the-USA joints are now available for $100 at select stores and outlets like Zappos.

Earlier this year, the Nike LunarGlide+ 3 was used to commemorate this year’s Chicago Marathon. A few months later, it’s the New Balance team that takes charge of doing the same for the 2011 New York City Marathon. For this run, it’s the iconic 574 New Balance sneaker model that gets decked out in a Livestrong-esque colorway of yellow/black/white that is sure to make New Yorkers and non-New Yorkers alike think about the multitude of yellow taxi cabs that are seen running a daily marathon through the streets of the city that never sleeps. Check with your local New Balance carriers, as these are set to release from participating retailers- with the marathon taking place this weekend.

You’re probably wondering, “Who is Babe the Blue Ox?!” Well, for those who may be too young to know or for those who may have just simply forgotten, Babe was folk-tale companion to Paul Bunyan, one of America’s most told classic stories. The dynamic duo did it all together; carrying wood, pulling wagons, and so much more. Ok, the sneakers!

New Balance has took us back in time with the release of the New Balance 574 Made in USA ‘Babe the Blue Ox’ sneakers. The NB 574 boasts an all royal blue suede upper with contrasting grey mesh panels and features special detailing including the words “American Tall Tales” written on the insole to represent the character, Babe and NB the collection.
