Nike is celebrating Kevin Durant’s success in the NBA by taking it back and making a Nike KD II (2) PE for his former school, the Texas Longhorns. Burnt orange patent leather covers the shoe’s forefoot strap and midsole and Swoosh, and works excellently with the white leather upper. The Nike KD II (2) was worn by a few current Longhorns in the Big 12 Tournament and will be available in limited quantities at House of Hoops locations on March 27, 2010.

Oklahoma City Thunder star and Nike sponsored athlete Kevin Durant stood behind the Nike Hyperize after news emerged last week that the state of the art hoops shoe was banned by the Detroit Pistons athletic trainer after many players came down with ankle injuries while in the shoe.

Kevin Durant has been doing big things for OKC, securing his place in NBA history. Thus, Nike blessed the young star with a special colorway for his second signature shoe. The Nike KD2 gets a creamsicle makeover, sporting a more than bright orange upper and sole, comprised of leather, rubber, and mesh. The swoosh and KD strap logo are decked out in contrasting blue, making these shoes stand out on the court this past Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks. Although Kevin Durant was nowhere near the NBA Playoffs 2009, his Nike sponsorship is still solid. The newest Nike KD1 comes in a white/black/silver colorway. The shoe features a white leather upper and black swoosh to contrast the silver midsole and white outsole. The baller’s initials are on the side panel as well as his John Hancock on the tongue in black. #35 makes its mark on the opposite side panel to finish off this shoe. It’s for sale now for $88 bones.

You may recall seeing early drafts of Kevin Durant’s Nike KD1 X last November similar to the model pictured above, but you can expect to find the KD1 X in-store soon as it has surfaced online. The KD1 X is made up of numerous unique characteristics from its colorway that is hard to overlook to different types of technology for ideal comfort. Further details include a design that splits the sneaker into two halves, white on one side and the other consisting of a gradient fading from red to orange. In addition, Durant’s branding is found all throughout the sneaker appearing above the swoosh and on the tongue.

Since making the move to Oklohoma City, the teams jersey colors name have changed and so has Kevin Durant’s footwear. Durant’s signature Nike KD 1 has been seen in an assortment of styles including this new make-up modeled after the Oklohoma City colors of orange, teal blue and black. The sneakers consist most of a bright orange upper which is paired with teal blue laces and yellow accents. Other details include a speckled print on the outersole, swoosh and on the inner lining.
