This Saturday marks the return of the Air Jordan Dub Zero after a short hiatus. The first of the new batch appears in an Air Jordan IV (4) like palette that consists of white, varsity red, black and cement grey. This Dub Zero is created with a white base, black accents and sole, red Jumpman logo and a speckled midsole. The rest of the sneaker features the trademark sneaker design at the side of each sneaker. You can expect to find the Dub Zero in stores starting on April 18th, but can be purchased online early for those who can’t wait.

Nike Launches 2009 Future Sole Design Competition

Nearly two weeks ago, Nike launched the second installment of their Future Sole Design Competition. Concocted by Jordan Brand Design Director D’Wayne Edwards, Future Sole is open to aspiring artists between the ages of 14-19. Renderings from entrants are evaluated by the voting public and some of Jordan Brand and the Swoosh’s top flight creators. Prizes for the contest include $7,000 in design software and supplies, and the finalists get an expenses paid trip to Nike’s Beaverton headquarters to meet with the brand’s in-house designers and developers. Registration began on April 1 and will end on June 1, 2009.

Thankfully, Jordan Brand stayed true to the original’s material usage and componentry, and the only thing different with the ‘09 retro is that the blue lining which stretches from behind the tongue to over the top.

Jordan Brand "Lakers and Blazers" Theme Releases

Jordan Brand is celebrating the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers with unique sets of footwear dedicated to each organization’s history and color scheme. The Lakers pack features a white/purple/yellow iteration of the heterogeneous Air Jordan Six Rings and black/white/purple/yellow variatons of the skate-friendly Air Jordan I (1) Phat. The LA triumvirate will hit stores on January 31, 2009. The Blazers pack also offers a pair of the Six Rings and two pairs of the Phat, but in white/black/red hues to match-up with the Blazers’ uniforms. The Trailblazers pairs will hit on February 14, 2009. The Lakers and Blazers Air Jordan Six Rings will be priced at an exorbiant $160, while all four pairs of the AJ1 Phat can be had for $95. This weekend is gearing up to be a srong one for the Air Jordan camp, as the brand is set release three unique pairs of the Jordan True Flight. The performance shoe is reminiscent of the company’s timeless Air Jordan VII (7) as it employs a reinforced upper much like MJ’s seventh signature did early on in the 1990’s. This particular version of the True Flight employs suede along the middle panel and toebox for a luxurious appearence, and is accented by red and graphite along the midsole and red stitching on the upper. The Jordan True Flight Black/Varsity Red-Light Graphite-White will hit retailers this Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Jordan Brand retailers worldwide for $140.00.
