This past weekend, Lebron James attended the NBA 2009 All Star Weekend in which he gave us a first look at the newest colorway of the Nike Zoom Lebron VI (6). At that time, we were unsure of the inspiration behind the pair, but after some more detailed pictures, it is quite obvious that this colorway is inspired by the city where James was born—Akron, Ohio. Nike has even gone to the extent of including the name of the street where “the King” grew up, Hickory. Featuring a navy blue rear with white imagery accented by a white toebox, a white swoosh, and a navy blue midsole, this pair has an overall clean and fresh look. Nike has spruced up this colorway by including many gold accents seen throughout the sneaker. An official release date is still under question, but be sure to stay tuned for updates. Via SC.

The Nike Zoom Lebron VI (6) – NYC Taxi was released in limited amounts at certain New York retailers earlier this month and we are now seeing evidence that a couple more retailers have also recieved this limited ZLVI. Inspired by the average taxi cabs in New York which residents see on a daily basis, this pair features a black perforated leather upper with a yellow patent leather band and other yellow accents seen throughout the sneaker. To finish this pair off and give it a fresh look, Nike has included a metallic swoosh, grey outsole, and black/white laces. As previously mentioned, the Nike Zoom Lebron VI (6) – NYC Taxi is now available at select Nike retailers in the New York area including Vault.

A couple days ago, we showcased the Nike Zoom Soldier II (2) inspired by the Summit Lake Hornets, Lebron James’ youth basketball team. We are now getting a first look at a Zoom Lebron VI paying homage to the same children’s recreational basketball team. Featuring a white upper with a black patent leather band and toebox, this pair’s color comes in the form of the energy and purple accents seen throughout the sneaker. For that game, Lebron is breaking out a new colorway of his signature sneaker, the Nike Zoom Lebron VI. We previewed this “Taxi Cab” colorway of the ZLVI a while ago and we now have detailed pictures and information to share. This colorway is inspired by the average taxi cabs in New York which residents see on a daily basis. Featuring a black perforated leather upper with yellow patent leather accents and a metallic swoosh, this pair nicely imitates the typical taxi cab’s color scheme.

The Nike Zoom Lebron VI has definitely become one of the most popular sneakers as of late. The most likely cause of all this attention towards Lebron’s newest sneaker is definitely related to the fact that Nike has been releasing a plethora of colorways of the ZLVI—some dope, while others subpar. Whether Nike will or will not continue this trend is still in question, but the dopeness of this colorway is definitely not. One of the best colorways to be made available to the public, the Chalk Nike Zoom Lebron VI is inspired by Lebron’s pre-game ritual of rubbing chalk on his hands and throwing the excess chalk into the air. Though this pair was thought to be an extremely limited release a couple months, it is now available on Eastbay and might even hit other retailers soon.
