We’ve got word from several reputable web sources that the Nike NFW Hypermax “McFly” will not see shine on retail shelves in America. Allegedly, the shoe (which bears striking resemblance to the ultra-cool high top Marty McFly rocked in “Back 2 The Future II”) was not officially licensed by Universal Studios, Inc. and was simply an unofficial inspiration for the shoe. Even so, the film giant had beef with the colorway and has decided to pull the ‘Max. We can only hope that this is a momentary dispute and we’ll eventually see the Nike NFW Hypermax “McFly” in-store.

Earlier this year, we previewed the Nike Hypermax NFW (No Flywire), and we now have the corresponding U.S. release information to share. The “Tennis Ball” Pack, composed of the varsity red, comet blue, and neon yellow colorways of the Hypermax NFW, is scheduled to release at select Nike Basketball retailers this weekend. All three sneakers host a tennis ball inspired felt material on the upper while the swoosh, strap, and sole are all coated in white. As previously mentioned the Nike Hypermax NFW is expected to release at retailers on August 22, 2009.

The Nike Hypermax No Flywire “Tennis Ball” Collection is starting to hit select Quickstrike accounts nationwide. Featuring a felt, tennis-ball like upper, the Hypermax is the latest Nike Basketball shoe incorporate a full-length Air Max unit in the midsole for comfort and durability. The Nike Hypermax NFW “Tennis Ball” Collection was originally thought to be international-only, but it looks as if select Nike accounts will get the shoes in limited quantities.

The Nike Hypermax has already been released in many colorways, and we now have a look at a new style for August ’09. This pair hosts a rather simple colorway that is definitely worth checking out if you need a new sneaker to play on the courts. This Hypermax yields a white leather upper with varsity red accents seen on the tongue, strap, sole, midpanel, and inner lining. The Nike Hypermax – White/Varsity Red is now available at your local retailers for $130.

Last year in July, Nike released the “Marty McFly” Nike Hyperdunk, and now, about a year later, Nike is set to drop the The Marty McFly edition of the Hypermax. This pair hosts a grey upper accented by a speckled mid-sole, light blue panels, white swoosh, and light pink inner lining. As if the colorway was not fresh enough already, Nike has also made the swoosh and out-sole glow-in-the-dark. The “Marty McFly” Nike Hypermax NFW is now beginning to arrive at select retailers, and we will surely update you as soon as any release information is known.

The Nike Hypermax has already been dubbed an impressive basketball sneaker, but the Hypermax NFW is now being viewed as an equally impressive casual/lifestyle sneaker. With the latest installment of “No Flywire” variations, the Hypermax is definitely worth checking out. There are currently four known styles of the Hypermax NFW. The first is the “McFly” edition, the second is the “Tennis Ball” edition, and the final two are red and blue tonal colorways. All four styles of the Nike Hypermax NFW (No Flywire) are now available overseas, but a stateside release is still under question.

Though the Nike Hypermax has been seen in a plethora of player exclusive colorways already, Nike’s newest basketball sneaker has not been making its way to retailers as fast as one would expect. Today, we have our first look at a black Hypermax which features nothing but more black and a few silver accents. This colorway of the Nike Hypermax is definitely not as bright and vivid as some of the prior styles, but is nontheless a solid choice for a new basketball sneaker.
