It has been well documented that KD always wanted to be a weatherman when he was growing up.  Now, after first popping up a few weeks ago, we have official release info for the upcoming “Weatherman” Zoom KD IV.

The kicks sport a bright green upper (representing a green screen) alongside a translucent sole with a thermo-mapping of KD’s actual footprint on the outsole.  Additional thermo-mapping makes up the heel of the upper as well as the lining.

Set to be a House of Hoops exclusive, you can pick up this special colorway of the Durant signature in limited quantities beginning December 10.

It seems as though Christmas is coming a little over than a month early for those of you sneakerheads who live in or around Pembroke Pines, Florida. After viewing Amar’e Stoudemire’s interview for a position at FootLocker, we now have learned that the New York Knicks superstar will actually be on hand to help with the festivities of the latest House of Hoops grand opening. Tomorrow, it is Pembroke Lakes Mall that will officially open the doors to its new House of Hoops location. Amar’e will be there to meet and greet fans, but also to lend a hand with the customary raffles and giveaways, which will include the big man’s Nike Air Max Sweep Thru. Last Saturday, the big opening event for House of Hoops Sacramento started at 2PM with Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings and Ticha Penicheiro from the LA Sparks (and once a member of the Sacramento Monarchs) stopping by. Tyreke touches on why he likes wearing the Nike Hyperdunk and playing overseas (if we do not have a NBA Season this year). Ticha shares the possibility of retiring and what she wants to do after the WNBA and which players were her favorite growing up.

Friday, October 7th Sacramento House of Hoops opened it’s doors to the public. The Friday was the grand opening, while Saturday was the big event with appearances by Ticha Penicheiro and Tyreke Evans. In our first video, we give you a virtual tour of HOH Sacramento. On Friday October 7th 2011, the Foot Locker in Arden Fair Mall was officially transformed to a House of Hoops, making the Sacramento location the 1,000th HOH. Around 30 people showed up for the official opening, while the store was packed for the main event.

Right when the doors opened, the crowd bypassed the general releases on the right and left walls, heading straight to the back where the House of Hoops exclusives and limited releases were homed. Some of them included the Nike Hyperfuse 2011 PE’s, Air Jordan 2011 Q-Flight Year of the Rabbit and Jordan Melo M7 Future Sole.

On Saturday, the big event kicked off at 2 PM with DJ Sugabear supplying the music and Big Al hosting (both from Sacramento radio station 102.5). Shortly after 2:00, four high school basketball players received the Nike Scholar-Athlete award for their skills on the court, high GPA and extracurricular activities in the community.

After the students received their awards, Ticha Penicheiro took to the stage and talked about her life growing up and how important it is to have an education just in case you don’t make it in the NBA/WNBA. What shocked many, was her announcement of possibly retiring from the WNBA.

For the main event, 2009 Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans walked in to an anxious and riled up crowd. After getting settled in, Evans answered some general questions like who would win in a one on one shootout with Ticha Penicheiro (of course he said himself) and what was his plans if the 2011-2012 NBA Season was canceled. Evan’s was unsure at the moment, but stated playing overseas is an option.

Throughout the entire event you could not help but notice the ear to ear smiles, excitement from the giveaways, Ticha and Tyreke hitting the stage plus the Air Jordan and Nike HOH exclusives. House of Hoops by Footlocker spots are now popping up gradually across the United States and even Puerto Rico. Today marks the grand opening of the newest House of Hoops at Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento, California. Special appearances by Tyreke Evans and Ticha Penicheiro will highlight today’s event. On Friday, September 23rd, San Juan, Puerto Rico will be the new site for Foot Locker’s House of Hoops at the Mall at Plaza Las Americas. The Grand Opening event will start at 6:30pm. Be sure to mark your calenders and head to the event if you’re in the area.
