Nike Basketball continues to find inspiration at the movies. Earlier this summer, the BB crew released the Transformers Pack, a collection that borrowed cues from Transformers II. This Nike Hyperize Mid “Destro” immediately draws comparisons to Destro, the villain in the latest G.I. Joe flick. ‘Stro’s silver mask is mirrored by the shoe’s shiny silver patent front, while his black/red/gold make’s up the rest of the Hyperize’s upper. The evildoer’s “Cobra” insignia is affixed to the shoe’s tongue. Nike will release the Hyperize “Destro” later this Summer.

Following the July release of the Transformers II pack, the G.I. Joe pack is set to release exclusively at Footlocker House of Hoops locations in August. Similar to the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra is expected to be another summer blockbuster, complete with a dedicated detailed shoe package. Within this package is the Nike Sharkalaid, executed in the likeness of Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander’s personal ninja bodyguard and assassin. The Storm Shadow Sharkalaid is comprised of a white upper, accented with black laces, straps, and the Cobra Command emblem on the tongue. Lastly, a translucent “shadow” sole completes what is my opinion one of the most well executed Nike Sharkalaid colorways to date. Expect to see these as well the rest of the G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra package mid-August exclusively at Footlocker House of Hoops locations.

We recently previewed the Nike Transformers 2 Pack, and we now have a look at the first sneaker from Nike’s upcoming G.I. Joe Pack. Nike has chosen one of their newest silhouettes, the Alpholution, to represent Cobra Commander from the upcoming film. This pair hosts a red upper with navy accents are visible via the textured leather toe box, the forefoot strap, and the sole, while grey accents can be seen on the side panels. Overall, this pair yields a clean and sleek colorway that is definitely worth checking out if you are fond of the G.I. Joe series. The “Cobra Commander” Nike Alpholution is expected to release next month.
